Re: Zac Miley

Played today - after avoiding quantum the past few times I played because it was so discouraging, I got blubberman within a few tries today. Slowly getting back. Also got revup both sides, which I may not have ever done before. I went on a trip to Wyoming and got back on Wednesday. It was a good time.

Re: Zac Miley

Thanks Nick! I played again yesterday and felt a little more comfortable despite the oncoming snow (it was 70 freaking degrees when I started the 5 minute walk to the shred spot and ~55 by the time I got there). I can still do a lot of the easy stuff, surprisingly - usually I get really bad at pixie...

Played some hack today. Did some whirls and swirls and whatnot - the weather was too good to pass up. Hopefully I'll keep playing.

1. Bleeding Edge, Thomas Pynchon
2. The Crying of Lot 49, Thomas Pynchon
3. Nausea, Jean-Paul Sartre
4. The Castle, Kafka

Sorry for lack of participation in this and the book club - I'll give my thoughts when I've got more time and internet.

Re: 2014 Book Challenge

1. Bleeding Edge, Thomas Pynchon probably shouldn'ta done that, but a friend let me borrow it. I thought it was pretty contemporary in its aesthetic and I wasn't particularly into the narration, but some of the word choice in it was pretty phenomenal. Also in the middle of some Borges stories and a ...

Re: The 2013 Book Challenge

1. Moby-Dick, Melville

In my opinion, the best book in the world.

2. Lolita, Nabokov

Rapper persona in disgustingly beautiful Russian-American guise.

3. Candide, Voltaire

The philosophical certainty and dark humor are what attract me most to this one.

Re: Modified Book Club

I chose Don Quixote second so that it would fall in the summer months, which is when I seem to have the most initiative to read. I suppose that doesn't really make sense for someone in Australia (or anyone else who doesn't really share my pattern), so I'm cool with wherever it falls. I'm glad you gu...

Re: Modified Book Club

Invitation to a Beheading, Vladimir Nabokov
Don Quixote, Cervantes
Baudolino, Umberto Eco

would be my choices. I was gonna go for Pynchon as well but I think it'd be silly to have two books by the same author.
