billyg - not much footbag to speak of in the SE these days. things have really cooled off from what they were 4-5 years ago. atlanta & knoxville both had really active footbag communities back in the day. our group in nashville actually switched to sepak takraw back in 2010 thanks to a declining num...

there's not much freestyle going on around here lately, but maybe on a special occassion we could muster something up. what day are you talking about kicking it? andy, trey, dustin, andrew, & lee would be the only people who live within reasonable proximity to Manchester to respond to this & i'm pre...

i agree with bob that a bit of encouragement can certainly help, especially if aimed at those solo kickers out there. if there was an online community then maybe i would've never stopped kicking '97 - 2000. i honestly enjoy reading thru modified, but posts are often taken out of context & let's face...

thanks to many for some genuinely thoughtful comments, i was beginning to get disgusted with some of this feedback. money & sponsorships are major factors if this were to ever happen . this may just be a rumor i heard - didn't vasek start competing in soccer juggling contests for money? if it's actu...

i've been on modified since 2004 for pete's sake. in fact, i've been around long enough that i've kicked in circles with Ken S., Laroche, & James - who've all responded to this topic. i'm not trolling for anything except a discussion that most of you seem unwilling to have. i simply posed a question...

sen - thanks sen. i'm enjoying the debate as well, although it takes a decent amount of energy & time. i don't think i've ever participated in a modified.in discussion that's gone on this long. 1.) these "official" bags don't necessarily have to be machine made. i know for a fact that one footbag c...

sen - bowling comparison? bowling is way similar to footbag in regards to its customization like: color, pattern, coating, differently drilled finger holes, number of finger holes, & i've even read that the cores can also be of different materials. It's also competed as individuals or as teams & is...

sen - all sports have a criteria for the size & weight (which vary slightly), but size & weight can be drastically altered in the case of a pee-wee/junior competition. i'm not an expert on all of those sports i mentioned, truth be told i was just naming crap. my point is this ............. Brazil d...

okay starting at the top. zachatree - yes i read your reply. who decides? the footbag rules committee seems like an excellent choice as to who would decide on the bag. who produces? a footbag company like freedom footbags, prokicker, or footbagnet.com. why it matters? it matters because beginners ar...

Personally I don't believe freestyle is a sport. Unfortunately that gets into the whole discussion of, "what's the difference between a sport & a competition". So let's save that one for another thread. I would prefer to stick with the subject of the standardized footbag. Why can't the governing bod...

Footbag net does not have an official bag. Sure freestyle is played solo, but that's just another reason why it remains in the shadows. Freestyle without the circle is just interpretative dance. The more I think about it.... the less I think freestyle can even be called a sport.

why is there not an official footbag?

As long as footbag has been around, you'd think that this would've been done years ago. Footbag has an international players association, a board of directors, numerous committees, + a hall of fame, & we don't have a standardized footbag for freestyle or net! Why not? I'm aware that stitching is a b...

i've put in too many hours to take it lightly. i am serious.

i don't want footbag to be the next skateboarding, & that's not what i'm asking. i would settle for people not laughing when they say hacky sack.

i'm glad to know that the names hacky sack & footbag haven't been tainted over in Eurpoe. i'd much rather have a blank canvas than a target on my back. the whole brand name stuff use to bother me when i was a kid, & now i couldn't care less if someone called it hacky sack. if i'm speaking with someo...
