Re: Asmus and maybe others talk about the 2014 FIFA World Cu

Basically everybody puts in $2 per team, with a max of two teams per person (we were worried we wouldn't be able to get 32 people to enter from our department) and then you draw a random team out of a hat, and if that team wins the world cup then you get $64. It's more of a workplace morale kind of ...

Re: Asmus and maybe others talk about the 2014 FIFA World Cu

Pretty epic Costa Rica v Uruguay result. Costa Rica is the other team I have in the work sweep :D (although they still have a bit of work to win me the money :P). I didn't see the game, but the multicultural tv station here is pretty much showing wall to wall world cup, so I'll see if I can get a re...

Re: Asmus and maybe others talk about the 2014 FIFA World Cu

I certainly agree that the amount of contact was not great, but I think it's hard to see how much influence it really had, in part because of the acting. Even a momentary hold as he was moving forward could be enough to prevent a goal, and where he has his hand, I think it's plausible (but not clear...

Re: Asmus and maybe others talk about the 2014 FIFA World Cu

Yeah Australia did well I thought. Cahill is amazing. I'm surprised so many people think the Brazil penalty wasn't there. I would think if you put your hand on somebodies shoulder, you're going to get into trouble in most sports. Certainly Fred was acting as well, but I would have thought it would b...

Re: hacky sack millionaires

But Nick, you didn't claim the video was racist, you claimed that White People are racist, and obviously implying that somehow this video demonstrates that White People are racist.

Re: Modified Book Club

So is anybody still in this or is it just me? If so, how are people finding Pattern Recognition. I really enjoyed the start, but I'm finding it dense, and hard to read without without concentrating. It's actually losing out in my afternoon ritual of scotch and reading after work and be assigned to t...

Re: Modified Book Club

Cat's Cradle I've read this before, actually for the 2009 50 book challenge, so I'll post my review from then at the bottom :). I definitely enjoyed this more than last time. I probably should have mentioned in my last review that KV was clearly a really clever writer, and I really enjoy his books o...

Re: Footbag Wikipedia Page

If you go to the front page of wikipedia, and click on the featured article, that's an example of a high quality article (whatever it is, because an article has to be high quality to be nominated as a featured article). There are many problems with the footbag pages but the key ones are half written...

Footbag Wikipedia Page

Hey guys, there's a topic in General Footbag about this, but I thought I'd post something here. I think it would be great if the footbag page on wikipedia were seriously updated. At the moment it's a low quality and poorly written page. This is one of the first places many people who hear or see foo...

Re: Forum "likes"

Sorry I wasn't very clear then. I mean it would be good if there were a page where I could see which posts of mine have been propped. Ie. I have three props right now, but no idea which posts those on.

Re: Forum "likes"

Great work Allan, thanks :)

A few other thoughts;

1. It would be nice if the prop logo changed somehow to indicate you'd propped a post.

2. I don't care about leaderboards, but some sort of list of who has propped you on what posts would be nice.

Re: ['what is this trick called?']

Dada Curve with the first dex symposium is actually reasonably hard I would think, and much more deserving of the add count than with the second dex symposium. Any downtime trick where you do a symposium with the eventual stalling foot is hard. I don't really know if you can call it "da da curve" th...

Re: Modified Book Club

Invitation to a Beheading. I finished this today at lunch time, and really enjoyed it. It's definitely a strange book; a mix of satire and I guess existentialism. It reminded me a lot of the previous book - The Castle by Kafka, but I thought it had to significant improvements. Firstly although I rea...

On the rare occasions when I'm allowed to do the grocery shopping, I always buy the products with names related to footbag, which might be why I'm usually not allowed to come grocery shopping.

Re: Kickstater Shoe project idea

The big advantage with Kickstarter though is that the designers of the shoe won't need to outlay a large amount of money, but can rely on the community. You could potentially set a very low target that we'd definitely achieve if you were confident of being able to give everybody who pays shoes regar...
