Im called the hackysack king for doing a simple butterfly..or toe stalling, bringing my foot behind my back and having the footbag end up infront of me.

I disagree with this statement. If a person is calling you the Hacky Sack King (or Queen...) they do appreciate what you are doing enough to tell you that they think you are the best. You can't blame them for not knowing that there is anything better. When I get called the Hacky Sack Queen on my campus, I just thank them for the complement but definitely let them know that there are better people out there. Then I tell them about footbag.org to learn more about it.

But on the topic of pet peeves, I hate it when my bag gets kicked into a puddle.
In net, when my doubles partner gets really angry about the game, because it stresses me out and makes it less fun.

People bragging or saying "look at this" constantly. I also dont agree with "Someone with no experience in the sport can't really truly appreciate it." I think that a non footbagger sees things with fresh eyes. We forget just how fast our feet are moving around. Footbaggers get bored with alot of cool looking regular stuff because theyve seen it a million times. Thats why moves like jughandle, twirl, and wauxspin look so cool is because we dont do them all the time.

When people ask me to show them a cool trick, I do something simple, and they like and if they say something like "man JBA you've got some skills" I tell them to go look at some of the vids on the internet, then theyll see whats awesome. Pretty much never works, but I try to get them to go look, you know, perhaps start a spark that will get them into it.

I tell people that it is a 32 PANEL footbag, and they're like "32 POUND hackeysack?" I must then explain to them that there really isnt anyway something that small could weigh 32 pounds, and then show them the panels up close. But I cant blame them due to them not knowing about the sport.

I found another footbag kind of but not that big of a pet peeve.

When people mistake me from Erik Chan when I am Eric Chang. Silly as it sounds I've gotten an email from random people talking about hackrific and Ken S. thought I was him too

When I hit Clipper >Butterfly > Far legover someone thought I was Erik Chan

Its not a pet peeve really just something fun to think about since Chan and Chang sound so close at times.

lol im suprised how long it takes people to register the word panel when i talk about footbag. its like its not part of their vocabulary at all.

When people compare footbag with football (soccer), and automatically think you play football just because you use your feet and play with a small 'ball'.

(Also, when people want you to show something, they think pendulum or sole stall is the best you can do...)

Shredding at a shitty site. Slippery or soft floors/ restrictive or dark spaces drive me INSANE when I'm trying to practise. I'm normally easy-going, but when I have a Pet Peeve, I fucking mean it.

Also, when shredding at home I've had it happen that I put the bag somewhere and then take off to get a drink or expell previous drinks (into the toilet), then I come back and I can't remember where I put the bag. It's somewhere obvious, but it takes ten minutes out of my shred session to find it! Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Shredding with a really nice bag makes everything better though. I'm getting better at leaving a bad session without the urge to burn down a building. It used to ruin me for sometimes more than an entire day. It's been alot better now that I'm learning to roll with the punches.

when someone does a toe pickup on a bag thats not their own. its fine if you own it, but if its not yours, have some fucking courtesy. i do it to my bags, because its mine, and i have an unending amount at my fingertips. but if you do it to my bags, id be pretty damn pterbed.

when someone disapproves of your props giving. like "props!"; "you think that was good". just take the compliment.

if people are harsh tipping newbs in circles. take it to the sidelines, coach.

people that wont shred with a circle bag. (like keeping a mr. in your hand for your turn). i know, its your turn, but its like using a cork bat. in the opposite situation, a mr. being the circle bag, id just leave. im not in favor of their properties while shredding, so i dont make my own circle inside yours.

if someone takes an extra try, im fine, but multiple self serves are pretty annyoing. youll get another try if you just wait.

im sure theres more. but i gotta go for now.

Brian you just reminded me of one that bugs me, the 'i'm gonna use my own bag' thing that some people do.

In one act you dis the bag in use and basically tell the circle that you want them to stop playing for a turn and watch you. I don't know what it is but I find it pretty disrespectful. If you want to hop into the circle, make a compromise on bags.

That said, sometimes I step into a circle and haaaate the bag they are using and suggest one Ive brought and most often people are fine with that. It gets the same job done (me getting to use a bag I like) without making me seem like some island.

And also on the flipside of the props thing you brought up, brian. Sometimes I am playing awful and a newb in my club will give me props for a diving clipper. I get it that it looks cool and hard to them but to me it just makes me feel pathetic that I am struggling to get through basic moves that were butter nothings to me years ago and then when someone gives me props for it it's just a reminder of how shitty I am playing.

That said, I also REALLY hate getting turned down when I am giving props so I always accept any that are offered to me. Who was it.. someone TOTALLY shot me down on some props recently. It was probably jorden or david, either way it made me feel like shit.

yup.

its even pretty easy to accept the props graciously while letting that person know you arent playing at your best. like "oh thanks man, now i wish i was playing my best" or something like that. i mean you can just accept them and be like "thanks!" and not even mention that diving clipper is usually easy for you, just to spare their feelings, but if you feel like you have to let them know you arent playing up to your usual standards for yourself, there are definitely polite ways of doing it that dont make other people (even if its unintended) feel small.
