Lets get rid of everything guys

Post by LEGOMAN » 04 Jun 2008 16:27

Fuck routines! People do too many far legovers to make it far! What's the fun in that for people? It's abusive for players to use far legovers!

Fuck Shred 30! It's too much about trying to push the limits of math! That's too hard for people to do! and its unfair when they find somewhere to exploit it!

Fuck Circles! People keep the bag too long and repeat tricks! It's too unfair for people who don't practice for it!

Fuck the add system! Even though it doesn't define difficulty everyone thinks it does so its evil!

This made me laugh! But on another note at least there are enough people defending routines + shred30! (Not that I'm good at either:-p)

But I want to join!

Regarding (what I think is) the original point of the topic.. One major reason I'll probably never go to another event, is that the competition portion of the event is boring and pointless to me. e.g. Even if David (as an example) doesn't place 1st in an event, does anyone really think he's not the best player there in most cases? Does the "crowd" (usually non-existent) understand the competition? In many years, I've seen far more players wowed by a regular shred circle, and I've seen many more spectators watch those same circles but walk away bored when the competition starts. How many players are there? How many of them compete? How many non-competing players just wish for the competition to be over so we can all get back to shredding?

In other words, what we all love to do (shred) seems like the most important thing to me.

Then again, many feel that growing the sport is the ultimate goal, and that legitimate competitions are the way to spread the word. I dunno about that.

competition is on of my favorite parts of each event. I can't imagine NOT feeling this way. Whether I'm in the comp or just watching, it's always interesting and exhillerating.

Fuck anti-competition

I think we should bring back the 'consecutive kicks' competition... and I'm being dead serious.

Nice burn :-)

Actually, I officially changed my stance somewhat in the last hour. I finally watched the TO Jam Circle finals video with Jorden and Penske and Johnny and Andrew. That was fun as hell to watch.

Oh wait.. That was a shred circle which is what I said I liked anyways. So maybe I just find competitions that aren't anything like the game we actually play really boring and pointless. That contest seemed pretty much like watching a normal circle, so I enjoyed that quite a bit more.

Side question, how is that competition judged? Is it basically "whoever is most hardcore overall wins"? That seems easy to judge and a good way to judge actually.

The first round is judged on creativity and the second round is judged based on difficulty. Each round each player gets 3 - 5 runs with the bag. Depends on how the competition is set up.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.
