Worlds predictions

Post by MetZelRio » 06 May 2015 10:28

Who's going to take 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Worlds Circle, Request, Battle, Routines, 30, Etc? Any predictions? I'll throw in my opinion once there's a few good replies. Let's hear it!

well I think Pia will take woman's singles net, The Canadians will take woman's dbls net, Tuomas Karki will take down Walt H for open singles net, Memphis will win Dbls open net. A Fritsch will win masters net. I think routines will see vasek surface again and win. as for woman's routines, its hard to go against tina a , but I think cassy will push them all

A non Czech winner in routines. Evan in Circle. Jindra in request. Taishi has shown anyone can win shred 30.

Jindra in Request made me laugh. I'd bet 100 bucks against him in that competition. He's not built for that, and Milan's going to be there, so no chance.

Circle, Request and Routine - Milan

Jindra has a chance in Circle and Routine, that is if he actually goes to Worlds. I've seen Milan at Todexon, the American crew looks very well prepared, but you haven't seen nothing yet.

As for Big One /Sick Three, depends on who prepares for that the most

Shred30, no one cares, I've no idea how that event hasn't been replaced yet.

The one thing I'd love to see are good judges for Big One/Sick Three. People who know the tricks and are prepared to at least air shred all of them a couple of times before reaching a conclusion. Judges that take their time and are not too lazy to ask other non-competitiors who have experiences with the tricks/combos that have been hit.

I agree Milan will take request.

At the DFO 2013 he came late and did the first hard rounds fully dressed and ended up winning. That was crazy.

Sick3/Sick1 is a toss up between Evan and Jindra.

Not gonna predict routines since I might judge.

Circle is such a hard one to predict after giving it much thought. I have several players whom I think could win. Although I think it may come down to Gatesman vs Benda. I'm hopeful for Landes, Aleksi Airinen (going?), Smola, & Penske.

I'd like to make predictions, but its hard to do without knowing who is for sure going or not.

From the US it sounds like Evan, Penske, Landes, Bear and myself are going. Who are the top Euros who are confirmed going other than Milan?

Registration is now closed, so it looks like the list of competitors is finalized.

Here are the 30 people in routines:

Aleksi Airinen
Alex Dworetzky
Alexander Trenner
Andreas Nawrath
Angelo Rendon
Brian Sherrill
Cassandra Taylor
Daniel Boyle
Daryl Genz
Derek Littlefield
Evan Gatesman
Filip Wójcik
Jakub Mo¶ciszewski
Jan Brekle
Jan Struz
Jim Penske
Jindra Smola
Ken Somolinos
Mathias Blau
Mathieu Gauthier
Micha³ Ostrowski
Milan Benda
Nick Landes
Nis Petersen
Rene Rühr
Rory Dawson
Sergio Garcia
Taishi Ishida
Václav Klouda
Wiktor Debski

For me one of the big wild cards is Aleksi. When he's training for routines, he's a straight up beast who I think should have won at least one title either in 2012 or 2013. But looking at the registration page, Aleksi isn't registered for Circle, and he IS registered for singles and doubles net. That would make me wonder how seriously he is prepping for routines this year.

I wouldn't underestimate Vasek.

No matter how things shake out, this does look like a stronger pool of competitors than the past 2 years, so it should make for an exciting final for sure.

From what I hear, he hasn't been playing much at all. He still has the talent though. Vasek Milan Evan Jim Jindra Nick will probably be locks for the final. Mathias, Aleksi, Rene, Ken pretty good chance, then people like Taishi, Brian, Filip could be in there with a good performance. Should be exciting.

Interesting revisiting this after the results finished. For posterity, here are some notes of what did happen:

 Aleksi got injured badly on day 1, and didn't compete in any events (freestyle or net)
 Jindra didn't come.
 Vasek did indeed have a resurgent year, winning gold in Circle and Bronze in routines.
 Only 2 Czechs came, but between them they won both golds, a silver, and a bronze in the main events.
 Americans took half the spots in routine Finals, and finished in 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place.
 Nobody got inducted into BAP.

This one came as a bit of a surprise when I read it just now, so looked at http://bigaddposse.com/ to see when the last time it was that no one was inducted.

Funfact: The last time no player was inducted into BAP was 1994!

It was said that the level of BAP inductees should be getting higher every year...

... by people who are already in BAP....

... some of which have been inducted after Vašek...
