The reason that makes zero sense as a solution is because to fix one hole you are putting many more holes in the bag.pips wrote:What about just sewing the hole up? That's what I did with one of my bags. Worked fine too.
Footbags get holes, get over it.

How the hell can u second that????jrstubs wrote:I second that, patching tape is good, glue is good. but my bags never get holes because they are indestructiblemosher wrote:Oh yeah, and David, you have to put patching tape on clean & dry footbags. If the bag is dirty or wet the tape will not stick.
As for the patching tape, I find that it works extremly well on footbags on the older footbags i have.
My Mosh bag is lucky enough to not have a hole in it yet (knowing the hell i put it through), but if it ever does, the little slab of Patching tape Tom gave me should do the trick

The only time I would suggest using glue of any type is when a bleed hole stitch gashes up into an extremely big hole. I think that happens when the thread kind of rubs that particular area of the stitch the wrong way, or when you try to exert a ton of force to open up a bleed hole with a straw (usually happens with bags that have really tight/small bleed holes) and the fabric just blows up from a shallow stitch. That's when you just glue the hexes together just to make look nice and clean, without worries of filler leaking out. I've seen a ton of old school bags with this done, and it's pretty practical.
Glue works well when you have bags that have huge bleed holes and irregular/very loose stitching, where the filler can easily leak out. I've had a couple of bags from people that had this predicament, and just plain crazy glue seems to do well for them. Only a small application is needed, and you're done.
Also, patching tape tends to peel off even if the bag is clean and dry. It really depends on the fibers that pill out on the fabric, or how you apply the tape on. I suggest you just put on the patching tape and press really hard onto the material for a few seconds. That usually works for me.

I agree 100% with Tom and Peg and whoever is also in favor of patching tape. I also use some medical tape stuff and it looks like it last forever! I put the first tape over a hole in my Ilja bag well over 18 months ago and it never came off. Not even during my regular bag washing sessions
Patching tape is imo the easiest and most convenient way to fix a footbag.
A good fabric glue can be really useful. If you spot a hole before it really breaks through the surface or becomes larger than a pinhole, one dot will prevent it from spreading. I use Liquid Stitch because it stays flexible and doesn't take away from playability.
Of course, too much will make it all gunked up and gross but if done correctly you can use it on every panel for a long time without ever developing a problematic hole.
Patch tape, however, is the only solution for large holes. Every player should have both since they're useful in different situations.

Question?!?!?!
Ok, I am a noob at this footbag business. I can put two and two together and use context clues. But what exactly are bleed holes, and why put them in a bag. I see alot of people complain about how to patch them. My solution sould be to not put any in it at all. Unless, for some reason I do not know makes me neccessary. Please give me some feed back.

Re: Question?!?!?!
bleed holes are there so you can alter your filler weight/type after the footbag is finished. and for me, it takes more time to stitch along a bleed hole than to just make a bag with bleed holes.shred_4_jesus wrote:Ok, I am a noob at this footbag business. holes aren't always a bad thing. if you put some sort of patch on it, most bags will play well... its just an aesthetic that holds in filler.

wrong thread i guess.
check out this sectiona nd you will find answers.
i bought a roll of tape lately, its 10 meters long and 10cm wide for 8 euros or so, i think i could fix all bags of all guys in this forum with this roll... i think if you dont overdo the fabricsoftener thing then a patch will keep his place forever, fabricsoftener seems to make the patches peel of, at least it did on one of my bags that i put throu softener alot.
