Those perf canvas ones look like leathers after the massive mod.

Yo, im so pickin up a pair of the black ones! no dirt and grass stains!
I might pick up a pair of those orange ones to use as casual shred, without the mods.

Well canvas isnt slippery at all, probably more grippy than mesh. The only thing im wondering is if the canvas is stiff. Ive had canvas shoes before and they become extremely soft. So after some break-in these canvas lavers might be great.
But that is just an assumption.

The New Balance CT300's are Canvas and that is one of the two things I absolutely hate about them. There is just no feel for the bag. However, they still get my endorsement because I have Barely had shin splints (which was a major problem for me) since I started kicking in them.

Matt Cross has a pair of black and gold canvas lavers. He cut the canvas off like you would for leather lavers

Not as cool as I first thought. It should be completely black, that b/w looks awful.
