3 pairs

Post by teh120793 » 23 Mar 2010 06:53

I have 3 different pairs of lavers:

Image
These are White/blue Mesh Mod Lavers(does the Modification look like it's done correctly? lol), They're about 6 months old

Image
These are black 'Casual' Rod Lavers

Image
Halloween edition Rod Lavers (better than you'd think for freestyling) I think i read somewhere that they're lighter than mesh lavers, but I haven't compared them yet.

Tim, looks like you carved down into the mesh fabric when you cut the eyelet. I've always done it where you just remove the eyelet and the leather part right around it, but not the mesh.

Yeah that kind of sucks, I forget what site I went to that told me to do that lol. On the bright side, the shoes breath very well, lol.

nice work! there's a LOT going on there. i particularly like obama standing in front of the capital building while it's being attacked. for whatever reason the pics are all mirrored, but otherwise great job!

if you're taking those with Photo Booth, there's a "flip image" option or something like that to fix that.

nice coloring man! i could be wrong though but it looks to me like your lacing isn't really doing all that much for your toe walls? but i guess it must work for you haha awesome shoes! :D

Did I lace them wrong? I'm not really sure but if there's a better way to lace them I'd love to know.

Mason,

I don't have toe walls... I cut the first eyelet off completely, but from what I've seen, people who still have the first eyelet intact typically lace from out to in on that eyelet and then back through the second so that the walls pull out more. I looks from your pic like you don't have any lacing through the first eyelet at all.

Think that's what he might be referring to.

Oh, thanks! That actually makes a lot of sense.

Edit: Is it better to cut it off or just lace it?

unless you have pixies on a lock down, i think the general recomendation is to keep them on, this allows you to learn pixie and fairy sets with correct form, if you were to cut them off and then learn you will in all likelyhood develop sloppy form pixies/fairies....it really depends on your play level.

Also it is easier to take off at a later date than to re-attach something...just food for thought

Oh, kay. I'll just leave them on and probably re-lace them using the top holes. There's probably a video on here or youtube with the correct method. Thanks again!

Edit:

I just re-laced them and... did something not sure what I did but it dramatically made it easier to play. This was SUCH a big help!

Just washed my lavers, so finally taking pics of them. These are my first pair of footbag shoes, so I know there are flaws with them.

Image

Modifications: (sorry if I misname things...I'm kinda new to footbag terminology)

- cut out toe & clipper boxes (shown in green in the pic...no outside stall box)
- thin mesh over stall areas
- removed 3 eyelets to in toe box area
- modified lattice lacing (no lace across the toe box area)
- flexible & removable clipper rail

Flaws:

- mesh is kinda slippery (when I bought the fabric, I didn't know texture mattered...I thought it was only thickness)
- no toe walls (though I heard they get in the way when doing pixies, so I'm not sure how to deal with this)
- no outside stall area (no excuses...I just got lazy xD )
- mesh on the right toe box area is unclean (tried going for an intricate design at first...looked ugly so I had to patch it)

If you have any comments/suggestions, I'm open to criticism :)
