your blog is really kool ! its getting kinda hard to find in depth and personal,
footbag related accounts on this forum, a sad thing really .
its nice to get inspiration from some fellow shredders' introspective -
i still believe thats what modified should be used for .
that, and tech talk of course .
i appreciate all the detailed information and one can feel that you are
passionate and seriously interested in footbag .

blogs like that give me the strenght to endure all these " whats your dogs'
favorite color threads " :D .

Great vid again Ben! The spinning ducking clipper was indeed cool, I liked that long run you did too. The ducking clipper back to back was very fancy.

WISH I could make a vid (got my shoes in!) but gotta find my large memory card or I would have to run back and forth and keep unloading my footage haha.

ps that dream was intense, I'm glad other people have dreams as weird as that or I would be seeing a shrink right now for all of my whacky ones.

pps...or is it pss...no it's pps definitely, I would like to see that flail on video as well as the torque.

Keep up the sick work man!

Thanks for the comments guys :) Appreciate it.

Busy busy busy, not much time to read or post. Had a 2 hour session last night. It was OK. While it's still in my head...

Quick recap
-Falling into clippers and landing on toes coming more naturally.
-Spinning practice!
-Gyro clip BS, the right way with no plant. Probably never hit it the right way before
-Gyro pickup BS, not too difficult
-Spinning Butterfly BSOS, but unsealed
-Worked on more relaxed, lower set, but quicker spin
-Warm up drill: Mirage x 3 > Legover x 3 > RPT > Illusion > Pickup > RPT > Butter > PDX Mirage > RPT > Butter > PDX Illusion RPT > run of a few more contacts
-DLO BSOS first try. All about the set, a good clipper helps
-Toe Blur again
-Footed tripwalk like 7 times. Couldn't fall into the butter right. Had a 10 minute span where I was quantuming junk high every time but lost it.

Cody hit his first reverse swirls both sides. We also requested he start doing DSOs and he was hitting them both sides clean pretty easily. He also hit mominatrix once, but it was kinda sketchy.

Good session. Got a good sweat going and played pretty decent. Peace out.

Wow, 3 weeks since my last post. I've been really busy between work and organizing TX states.

The tournament went pretty well. After being about 0 for 27 in getting sponsorships I got Subway to hook us up. 30 free 6-inch sub coupons. Yipeeeee! Net had a really good showing, freestyle had a pretty crappy one. Poor Matt Coffman came all the way from Tulsa to shred with like 4 other guys. He's really really good. I wish I had his clippers.

I played some net for fun. It seems like something I could definitely get into should one day I become incapacitated from playing freestyle. We played a couple rounds of golf. That was cool.

I got to meet Gary Gaman, the guy who brought footbag to Texas. He was childhood friends with John Stallberger. He had a ton of stories to tell. He got out there and played some net and did alright.

Saturday night Tina had a small party at her place and we got to see all of her old footbag memorabilia. I ate probably a whole pizza.

I had to pull teeth to get people to do competition. That wasn't much fun. We didn't break out the camera until after Matt left :( cuz we were lazy. But we got some good footage of Curtis, Cody, John and myself. I didn't hit anything new but I came damn close to tripwalk, slapdown and spinning ducking butterfly. It was on Cody's camera so expect a vid from him in the coming weeks.

In life news I'm not sure if I mentioned this but I signed up with Big Brothers / Big Sisters and was assigned a little brother. His name is Matthew, he is 8. We played some soccer on thursday together. He wanted to go to Hooters for dinner (his idea, seriously!) but I told him I don't eat meat, we went and got some subs. He's got a lot of energy and a vivid imagination. We should have fun together.

I'm definitely coming to Boston!~ My mom is getting remarried in mid January, so I will be up in Boston for a while. BSC if you guys are reading this I hope you all have an indoor spot we can rock. Last time I was in Boston was like August 2006. PATS!SOX!W00T!!!

Well the stress of the tournament is finally over which feels great, what a relief. I've got a lot of drilling to do. I need to do a ton of tri-force and toe-triforce. I need to dexercise again. I haven't had a true solo session in a LONG time.

I tried to search your blog but I don't know what triforce is. Except in Zelda of course. Phantom Hourglass for DS is awesome btw, I'm like 3/4 through it.

Triforce is clip>op clip>op clip>same clip>op clip>same clip>op clip>same clip>same clip... ad nauseum, you can go like up to 10 each side then back down to one or whatever... tiring!

But i would liek to know, what is toe triforce? Mirages and junk?

cool cool man!

im stoked too. dont worry, we have plenty of indoor spots for your wussy little texas ass :P ha jokes. do you know what part of boston you'll be located primarily in? we play a lot at Northeastern Univ. because a few students kick the bag (such as the dank gentleman above me) and we can kick indoors there. thats near symphony hall, on the green line, and near ruggles on the orange line. my house is also the ultimate indoor spot. tons of room, tiled floor, high ceiling, heating, good lighting, sound system, etc.

anyway, maybe im throwing too much info at you at once, but im a little baked.

seeyeh in awhile

Maybe Ben Folds - Rockin' The Suburbs?

Your blog is rocking!

And I am interested what you mean by toe triforce as well?
Like SS Mirage > Mirage > SS Mirage > Mirage > SS Mirage 2 > SS Mirage * 2 and so on..
And same with Illusions, Legovers(ATW), Pickup(ATW)?

Quantum is the coolest set evah! Keep workin' it!

To answer the questions

Blog title... Asmus got it right! Ben Folds - "rockin the suburbs". This was one of many tunes we rocked on the 17 hour drive to and from worlds. Just kind of an ironic thing I like. Every so often I bitch about things but then I remember I've got it pretty damn good in life so I stop complaining. This is sort of making fun of that.

Toe triforce is just like L-toe > R-toe > L-toe x2 > R-toe x2 > L-toe x3> ...

I FIGURED OUT WHY FLIP TOE IS INCONSISTENT! No need for toe-triforce. The reason is I can't CURL MY LEFT TOES very well at all. So I am going to to toe curls so that eventually I can start hitting flip pixie/quantum/atomic, I think that is the only thing holding me back.

I figured this out at a barefoot session on Sunday. Cody and John always shred barefoot, but they got the rest of us inspired to take off our shoes. Toe stalls are supposed to be easy barefoot but I had a hard time with left foot because I can't curl my left toes good at all! So with shoes I kinda just let the shoe do the cradling which allows me to flip toe stall but not well. Setting out flip toe is tough for the same reason.

Any roads, BAREFOOT highlights from Sunday:
-8 toe tiltless
-Clipper > Osis one side
-Clipper BSOS!
-Clipper x 3 strong side

So for now at work I will be taking off my shoes under my desk and working on my toe curls (toe crank?).

Playing tonight at the farmers market. We'll see how that goes.

BSC-
Left a post in your blog! We'll figure something out, it will be epic for sure :)

props on the barefoot clippers ;D

I had a severe problem with toe curl after a calf injury, but stretching the calf muscles + toe curls fixed it up. When you stretch your calf muscles and do toe curls it will improve heaps :D

Thanks Janis :)

I think I'm going to warm up with barefoot every session now. It really forces you to have good form and do really controlled delays.

Played last night with James and Cody

Barefoot highlights:
 DATWs easy. Almost hit it on flipside.
 Lots of toe tiltless
 Infinity! Still haven't hit toe set butter though.
 A few clippers, but not many

With shoes
 Spinning clippers BSOS once. Spins are still really inconsistent believe it or not.
 Gyro clipper a few times one side. Got a few good looks at gyro butterfly which is cool cuz that used to feel impossible.
 Mostly long tiltless runs. Couldn't really hit any of my big stuff. What's worse is I've lost flip ducking :x

I think I'm gonna play again tonight. Sitting at my desk working on my toe curls/crank right now :D

----------------

EDIT: Solo session tonight while bringing Tuesday to the dog park

 Butterfly > PDX Mirage > RPT 30 contacts first try shattering my old record of 16 or so. For some reason that was just crazy easy tonight.
 11 infinities
 Atomsmasher a few times
 Legbeater 2nd time ever
 Lots of tiltless, as always.

I feel like I'm finally finding a rythym.

props on atom smasher and legbeater =) 2 of my favorites right now!

how are your DLO's? i remember you working on them when you came to montana
Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.

Solo session today. Beautiful day. In the 60s, sunny, fantastic.

Session started off SOLID. I was warming up really slow, lots of stretches.

 100 clippers BS. Average about 14-15 at a time. Once got 28 flip clippers :x
 100 infinities. Several drops, probably 12 or 13 at most at a time
 31 legovers first try
 Legover > Mirage > RPT 40 contacts first try

Forgot to drill osis :(

THEN the unthinkable happened. Just as I was fully warmed up and ready to start shredding it up... I had a fucking back spasm. Out of nowhere! No idea how that happened. I set the bag up to do a clipper and before I even got in position to clipper, all of a sudden my back seized up and hurt like fuck. I was so mad! I had just spent a good 45 minutes warming up reeeeally good and then BAM back spasm. WTF?!?!!? My back hurt, not terribly, but it hurt.

I played for a little bit anyway
Highlights
 Tripwalk twice, new trick
 Several toe blurs. Very close on flip.
 A few ripwalks BS, flip is coming back.
 SS clip > Spinning clip > RPT x 3 both sides
 Footed slapdown and hit a 'the' toe blizzard
 Diving clipper > BOP run
 New 5-ADD! You'll see it in the online comps on I got it on film

I couldn't really throw anything together for sick 3. I was playing through some pain, probably about a 3.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. Good news is shins and legs feel fine.

Warmed down with some outside kicks and a bunch of stretching. I feel fine now except my back muscles ache. Goddammit. It hurts more to sit than to stand. sunuvabitch :x

Watching the red sox tonight.
