Re: FuteBlaug
Awesome welcome back session tonight. We got hoagies after. It was great kicking with the psu club again. Everyone got a shit-ton better. I think it will be a fun time this year. I did a lot of zoid sets and unusual surface stalls. I played around with gyro to a little, trying to hit spinning clipper, but I think I have a good idea of what I want to do tomorrow, as of drilling.

Re: FuteBlaug
Hi, futeblaug! I just had a great (although I was only present for about an hour) session with PSFC today. After the session, some of us went to shred house for pasta and footbag video. Although I had four classes today, the hour of shred and however long I was at shred house was totally worth it. I hit a few whirls today, Ivan helped me with some advice on my form. I had also hit my usual; legovers, mirages, unusual surfaces (although i failed to make contact with anchor,) and some zoid sets (to mirage, sort of proud I can hit mirage out of zoid,) among other footbaggy-type leg dexterities. I'm stoked for ECFC but have not even thought about a routine. I think I may abridge The Whale Song by modest mouse, but stilll need to think about choreography.

Re: FuteBlaug
Ok! Here's a quick, little post. First of all, I way too stoked for psufc and east coast coming up. Second, Toolan told me he might have weekends available in the future on top of Nick Polini's visits, as well. Third, I cannot describe the feeling of awesomeness of having such a great crew, her at psu, for being such great shred buddies and providing me, and whoever else shows an interest, in freestyle footbag. I recently found out that my neighbor from across the street at home plays freestyle football and slackline is interested in freestyle footbag... and that his younger brother already plays!!! I happen to have a pair of size nine lavers.. and he happens to fit in a size nine. AHH! Too stoked for footbag and not enough stoked about real life.

Re: FuteBlaug
I had a mini session, a little while, at the tennis court outside my building. For the most part, I just practice the basics, then I played around with clippers and weird stuff like calf roll>mirage and calf roll > near mirage(strong side) for a little bit.

Again, nice job with the calf rolls. To understand them better, check out this video.

Pretty self explanatory.

Re: FuteBlaug
That did not help at all. Maybe I misunderstand your sense of humor but it was a waste of time. But, today I did everything you told me. I stayed on my heels (mostly) and spent most of my tricks hunched over.
Re: FuteBlaug
Great, I leave for one day and Nick kills your game
Kidding of course. Just watched a bit of footage from one of our first sessions this year, and I think one thing you should keep in mind when you kick is to not rock back on your heels. I have a feeling once you do that, your butterflies will become much easier.

Re: FuteBlaug
Thanks, Ivan!
Today, I had a post-work drill session with april. We both mostly did our own things. Her focus was on atw, orbit, and legover. My focus for today was:
25 atw bs
25 orbit bs
25 mirage bs
25 legover bs
and 25 pickup bs
I wanted to do the same with illusions, but I am very inconsistent with them. I think I hit 3 on ss (one was hella thin with another being THE,) and 1 on flip. Illusions piss me off.

Props on the drilling, dude, keep that shit up. Don't let illusion get you down, she's a pushover. Just keep workin' on her.

Re: FuteBlaug
Thanks, Mike. Ivan helped me out with illusion today, so next time I drill, it'll be the focus.
I just arrived home from a PSU session at the IST building. Great turnout; we had a total of 9 people and only 1 unlucky newcomer was left laverless. However, said newcomer got very close to double orbit... and hit many illusions, legovers, mirages, atw, orbit, strong clipper. His name is Aiden, he plays freestyle soccer, has a brother who plays freestyle footbag, and lives across the street from me at home. Small world.
As for my highlights, I hit crispy torque, a few whirls, stepping toe, pdx mirage bs, my first clean cross body calf roll, and worked on my ducking, osis, and butterfly. I footed a toe drifter and got uber excited because I thought I hit my first 5 add: pdx blender...which was dexless and turned out to just be a far osis.
I think that's almost everything. Probably going to drill illusions tomorrow (post-work) if I'm not too drained from 4 classes, studying, and work.

Re: FuteBlaug
Hello. PSU had a great session last night with special guest Mikie Etlinger. I really don't have any great personal highlights except for hitting whirl a few times on ss and footing it (for the first time) on ws. Today, I am going to take a day off, unless I feel saucy after work at ten. I cannot express in words how excited I am about East Coasts. Ok, maybe I can. I am very excited for East Coasts. By then, my all navy lavers should come in as well as my pink quantum 3s.

Re: FuteBlaug
I missed the psu session today due to recovery from a drunken early morning session with Ivan. Although I was taught atomic sets, I'm not sure how much of that information I retained.

Re: FuteBlaug
I was an hour late to a drilling session that I was supposed to have hosted. Woops. I went easy on the drilling today with 10 clippers from ss toe, ws toe, ss inside, ws inside bs as a warm up. Then goofed around for a bit and finally hit anchor stall. Yes, so much yes (I hit it standing up.) I can only hit it with my weak clipper so far. Ivan and Marc were drilling ducking clippers, so I joined them for a little. Need to work on my ducking game. The blind part about it and the power set are two components I feel as though I should focus on. Other than that, I just worked on mirage > legover rpt, illusions, then hit a clean atomic set as a happy session ender. My legs were still sluggish today, so I'm not sure if I'm going to kick tomorrow or give my legs a rest. It's hard at school because I walk everywhere. Not only do I sometimes not feel like kicking because of this but, at the end of the day, my feet hurt.
Re: FuteBlaug
Get better support shoes. And walking is amazingly good for you. It should only help/supplement footbag. Keep it up, buddy, good things are in your future. And you have an amazing club to learn with. Can't wait to visit you guys soon!

Re: FuteBlaug
Mike, I'm thinking about just wearing running shoes when on campus. I feel like it'd be better than chuck taylors or skate shoes.
Today, we had a session outside of old main. It was the shizzit as the juggling club came. Old main was occupied by what looked like a freestyle circus. We shredded for a bit but mostly played foursquare. Post-foursquare, I drilled a bit with Ryan. No real highlights for today other than hitting swirl once and happily noticing my strong side whirl improving.

Have you hit weakside Whirl yet? If not, then the One-Sided Dwarves will enter your youknowwhat. And you don't want that. I'VE GOT SCARS TO PROVE IT, MAN!

Re: FuteBlaug
Just finished up a killer session with psu footbag and nicholas polini. It was super awesome. Hit some strings in circle then moved on to drilling zooming with marc and nick, then osis with ivan, gave pdx whirl a few shots, then my world came crashing down. I spent the last half hour/45 minutes drilling whirl. I footed it on weakside but cannot hit the damned thing. I tried time and time again, switching the starting side to bsos it. This made me leave an otherwise amazingly fun session on a very frustrated angry note. I'm told going to sleep angry is bad and feel as though it applies to footbag sessions as well. Next time.

Re: FuteBlaug
Last night, PSFC had an awesome session. I took two days off beforehand as a mental break from footbag. I had been very frustrated those two days and needed a personal time-out. Last night was awesome sickness. I finally was able to string again! The strings I hit consisted mainly of osis bsos, butterflies, far legovers, whirls, etc.
Now on to new stuff I hit: Dragon refraction, dragon (for the third and fourth times ever,) and FLIP WHIRL!!
I owe a thank you to nick polini for the idea of taking a footbreak and some awesome advice for strings.
