This is my new footblog. I guess I'll start off with some general information about myself. My name is Brian and my dj/producer name is dj mr bear, hence BrianBear. I make beats and am getting an AA in Music Technology right now. I attended UCSC for my general education, but realized they had no major in my interest. I am 21 at the moment, but my birthday is coming up very soon!!! woot. 22 is gonna be a good year for footbag. It also marks the third year of my footbag career. I pretty much got my first lavers for my 18th birthday. The first tricks i learned were mirage, around the world, pendulum (of course), and sole stalls. Then, about 6 months after the first lavers, I went to a shred in Santa Cruz where I met a bunch of cool people: Steve G, Emily, and a bunch of the Stanford footbag club, along with a couple of net players form the cruz. They were trying to teach me clipper stalls, and I had minor success. Shortly after, I began seshing with Emily and Dustin on occasion, and then on a regular basis with Dustin between classes on UCSC campus (awesome place to shred). I got a lot better with clippers and my toe stuff was getting pretty solid. It was awesome to play with him because looking back, he was improving a lot, hitting new stuff all the time. I think i also learned butterfly on my strong side then. The next step in my footbag progress was thanks to emily. We started playing on a regular basis a couple of times a week and she had the best drills for me. I can't quite remember all the stuff I learned during this time, but it was a lot!!! Sadly, I was still a very one-sided player. The next phase of shreds were up on UCSC campus at college 8 and these were great too. I really started getting my pendulous set from strong side down, and I could bust some tiltless for a while. I was also getting really good at sole stalls during this time. One epic highlight shred, was when I was working so hard to learn stepping and pixie... i asked emily and dustin what this was called, and i busted fairy no problem. They were pretty impressed and i hit fear that same sesh, along with fairy diving clipper soon after. Sometime around spring break Emily gave me call and said some footbaggers from Eugene were stopping through and wanted to play. Emily had a hurt back, and Dustin was out of town, and the net players are net players. So I got to rep the Santa Cruz footbag scene for Aaron Orton, Shawnell, and doh, i forget his name. Anyways, it was awesome seeing Orton bust some big tricks, and we had a fun shred on a tennis court. The time frame for this is kind've fuzzy but, I stopped shredding on a regular basis with them after second quarter junior year. Emily gave me my first 32 panel
