i brought it up to my doctor and he told me to stop playing footbag. i refused. hes a quack anyway. hahaha
im getting into a dodgeball league in january and my knees hurt so bad i can barely run so ive been modifying my daily routines lately. ive modified my yoga set, increased the amount of time i stretch before and after any sports and ive decreased the amount of time i play footbag everyday from one hour to thirty or forty-five minutes. i might even stop all sports over the weekend so i can give my body more time to heal. im going to quit skateboarding for a while too.
hopefully all this will help.

Maybe shred mats would help.

thats a good idea. shred mats? like tumbling mats or are there thinner mats available? i guess i could try shredding on my yoga mat. thats portable too. but i think a thinner mat would be better suited. i really cant say till i try though. thanks for the idea.

they sell mats that like connect together like puzzle peices... an example of them is in "moshers House" by tom mosher. In that video, when he is on the porch he is using them. I dont exactly no the name of the mats

I gotta be honest -- almost all of the players out there that have good form don't get knee problems. Almost all of the players I've seen on video and thought had bad form complain about knee pain and/or have stopped playing. :x

There are likely some very fundamental problems with your form that need to be fixed.

My recommendation is post a few short videos and ask for as much advice as possible from top players.

Don't continue to push yourself despite the pain. Don't just get new equipment. And don't just vent about your pain. Fix your game.

Send me a video and I can help.

JM

P.S. same goes for everyone

So Rippin Rick, Tim Kelly, and Eric Wulff all had form issues that led to their knee probs? I know my style is jacked up but Ill see if I can get a video and get some advice.

Are you doing other exercises? My knee pain almost certainly came from squats.

yeah my form may be bad. ill work on it when i start playing again. the pain has become unbearable and i find myself having problems standing from a squatted position nevermind trying to kneel down for any reason. its affecting the way i walk. ive stopped everything sporty/athletic. no dodgeball, no skateboarding etc. i have even limited the time i spend riding my bicycle which sucks cause my scooter is still a work in progress so my bike is my main mode of transportation. i guess now im stuck riding the bus till i get my scoot running again. ive started taking naproxen daily as prescribed by my doctor and my yoga routine has become more intense with the inclusion of fire breathing and emphasis on my back and legs/knees. im 31 and i refuse to give up footbag!
* sorry there is no way i can record or post a video

Buy this book and learn how to do squats. I had bum knees for about 5 years until I learned how to train them. Doctors, physiotherapists, acupuncturists all failed. Squats succeeded.
