Appeal for music for footbag competition

Post by King Monkey » 16 Jan 2009 09:31

The Sydney crew are hosting the 8th (?) Australian National Footbag Championships in April at a major Easter holidays festival. Its an agricultural festival/carnival/show that attracts thousands of visitors per day during its 2 week run.

We have 1 hour on a stage that seats around 500 people and we need music for the events that we are running, however we cannot use music that we do not have permission/copyright to use. For this reason we are not running routines on stage, but will do Shred 30, battles, maybe Circle Comp, and Request comp.

For these events we need music, but it must be either royalty free or we must have permission for its use. This then counts most music out for us.

So this topic is to appeal to music creators/producers who would supply us with and give us (the Australian Footbag Organisation) permission to use, their tracks during the competition. Anything shreddable would be great, particularly uptempo stuff like breaks, dnb, electro, but also hip hop would be great.

Anyone who is interested in helping us out, please post here or PM me. Thanks heaps for reading!

I wish I made music you could shred to. If he hasn't pm'd you yet, you should speak to Andrew. His old modified name was jrstubs but I think he had it changed. His music would be perfect.

Just a thought, but isn't most classical music free of copyright? You could probably use some classical for routines/etc.

Look for free or open licensed music on the web, there's plenty.

I used to write music back in the day of trackers, and there are lots of good tracks still produced and distributed for free by people using this type of technology.

Here are a few websites I used in the past to put my music on, I'm not sure if they're still good but they're a start

That would be a pretty stringent condition to place on the competition. Certainly to my advantage given I will be using classical (or at least romantic) music for my routine, but I think having routines where we can use whatever music we want is a much better option.

Yeh that was exactly our thoughts Jeremy, thats why Routines will be moved to a seperate location. Unfortunate, but better than players and the organisation being potentially sued for copyright infringement.

Thanks for the links, i will check them shortly. I may also PM particular people who may be able to help here (KR, Nick Laroche..)

I've had my eye on this thread for a while; I'd love to supply you with a bunch of tracks.

I'll send you a PM to work out the details.
