Favorite Comedian?

Post by Switch Kicker » 13 Feb 2007 12:33

Who's your favorite comedian, or comedians if you can't choose just one.

I'm currently laughing my ass off to Jim Gaffigan "Doin' My Time.", lol, funny guy. "Pope Pocket..." lol.

Other than that, I really can't choose between Jim Gaffigan and Dane Cook. Both make me die of laughter when I hear their material, even if it's not new material, it's just so damn funny.

Anyone else?

Jim Gaffigan, Demetri Martin, Jeff Duhnam, that fat Hispanic guy who does the "You're not fat, you're just fluffy." joke(Not Carlos Mencia>_>), and Sarah Silverman. Those are my favorites. 8 ) I don't really like Dane Cook in all honesty...

I have to say I really enjoy Jim Gaffigan, but that might be topped by Mitch Hedberg. Stephen Lynch is also funny, but pretty vulgar.

I don't like Dane Cook very much. He's laughable when I'm in groups, but solo his stuff doesnt' have me dying. He relies on shit like "shitting on coats" for laughs. It is funny at times but I don't think it has any wit behind it, and I'm not a fan of when he kinda freaks out.

I don't think Sarah Silverman is anything special, and I really don't like Mencia either.

I used to love Pablo Francisco but his 2nd special was terrible and was mostly just rehashed. I laughed a fair bit at the Amazing Johnathan a few weeks ago too.

Not a fan of social comics like Louis Black or Bill Maher, they just seem too "im right, your wrong, get over it" for me, even though sometimes I agree with them.

Ron White came to my school last weekend and a bunch of my friends went to go see him. He is alright, but I'm not giving a guy who supports the death penalty $30.

Good topic.

Dane Cook and I are from the same hometown. He's alright :o

My favorites are Paul F. Tompkins (ya know, the guy with the gap in his teeth) and Denis Leary.

If you've ever heard Chris Rock standup, that stuff is pretty damn funny. He's much better at standup that being an actor IMO.

Ha, kids... it was probably before your time:
"No Cure for Cancer" 1993
"Lock & Load" 1997

Good ol' fashioned American stand up comedy. I have these on my iPod still to this day. Absolutely classic stuff, a must have, IMO even though I fundamentally disagree with about 70% of his views on things.

Heh, I wasn't even aware there was anything on other than cartoons in those years.
Do you have a video link? I'd like to see some of his stuff. I'll peruse Youtube for this as well.

oh man, Russel Peters.

He's a canadian guy, with an Indian background. Pretty hilarious!

Also, "Joe From Winnipeg" is hilarious, but i think you have to be from winnipeg, or know something about Winnipeg stereotypes, life on the praries and canada in general to find it funny.

i realize its not like a given, but im from boston and i dont think denis leary is or was ever particularly funny. the only funny bit i remember from his standup was the thing about Tracheotomy Man or something like that.

frank caliendo is occasionally funny.

why hasnt anyone mentioned george carlin yet? so damned funny.

george carlin wasnt funny until he started swearing. thats like the 90's at least, and he's been in comedy since the early 80s atleast. plus, he isnt really that great. occasional laughs at most.

idk. i hate dane cook. hes so lame.

the amazing jonathan made me laugh.

demetri martin isnt so bad. i liked his drawings.

jim gaffigan is pretty good.

pablo fransico is horrible. so is carlos mencia.

i guess i rely too much on cartoons to be funny to like comedians.

that puppet guy on comedy central sucks. hes alright with puppets, but his humor dosent suit my profanity laced style.

gallagher is probably my favorite. or dave chapelle.

Brian, is Pablo Fransisco the "You're not fat, you're fluffy." guy?

As far as profanity laced and dirty humor goes: Lisa Lampaneli(Spelling?) takes the cake. her voice is annoying as hell but she hilarious.

Carlos Mencia is not funny. And he's not smart. His show sucks, and he, as a person, not a comedian, is not smart or funny. The show is scripted, and if the jokes suck, and if the joke itself doesn't suck, then he fucks it up by presenting the joke in an obnoctious or stupid way. I HATE Mencia, he just pisses me off. >.>

Thats Gabriel Iglesias, all of you who havent seen him really need to look him up, he had me busting up in stitches when i saw him on tv. My second favorite comedian.
I also like Mitch Hedburg, George Carlin, Brian Posehn, Zack Galifianakis, Dennis Leary. I like to watch a lot of stand up. Conan O Brien is my favorite, I love conan.

Ive seen tons of other funny stand up on tv but cant always remember their names you know?

Thanks for making this topic switch.
