I recommend Desert Punk. Here's another suggestion if you can find it: Baccano!

My favorite anime of all time is Fooly Cooly (FLCL), as you can see from my avatar  But other than that I liked Death Note and Bleach, as well as all of the Hayao Miyazaki movies. That man is a genius.
Miss playing footbag, hope to start kicking again soon

Sounds good. Haven't seen it though, but from what I read in several forums people often suggest watching it.

Rozen Maiden
Rozen Maiden Traumend
Rozen Maiden Ouverture
Lucky Star
The Daughter of 20 Faces
Ayakashi Japanese Horror Classic
Mononoke

Rozen Maiden may seem pretty cutesy and comical, but it's also pretty mystical and intriguing. I kept watching this show purely for the music (find the songs on youtube and be sure to find the piano version - you won't regret it).

The last two are pretty fun to watch as well.

Yumeria! It's a good series. Very comedic, lots of laughs. But it's also very serious. Good stuff though.

Gundam 00, another great machina from the Gundam Series.

My Santa! It's a funny little 2 episode series.

Watch both seasons of Tower of Druaga (the "Aegis" and "Sword of Uruk"). You won't regret it.

And Gintama! Watch it!

I'm currently watching D.Grey Man as well. I'm not sure what to say about it, but it's pretty interesting. The comedy is too light hearted in my opinion.

And if you don't mind crappy 'engrish' voiceovers, Chrome Shelled Regios is an okay anime to watch.

I've been curious about D.Gray Man. I'd like to hear what you think about it when you finish it.

I just started Mahou Sensei Negima! And it's looking to be hilarious.

I highly recommend:

Mahou Sensei Negima! Great story, hilarious, and yet quite serious. It's a full 26 episodes, but it won't seem like it was that many or that it took very long to watch. I finished it in 2 days, maybe 3. You'll never want it to end.

and

This Ugly Yet Beautiful World. Really great story. Definitely serious and yet there is still comedy involved. (Not for kids, some nudity and bad language)

I started Planetes yesterday. So far it's ok, looks like it could be getting better.

D. Gray Man has got me hooked at around episode 60 or so. It definitely gets a lot better at the end of the series.

Tales of the Abyss starts out annoying, but again it gets better towards the end (however, you might be compelled to play the PS2 rpg instead).

Some movie recommendations: Millenium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika (Satoshi Kon is the MAN.)
