Jordan's Competition (Results on Last Page)

Post by Jordan » 12 Aug 2009 13:40

Example Video (by Zac Miley)

(Most questions asked can be easily answered if you watch this vid ^^ so take a look and get a visualization of how the game is played)

Basically, you freestyle for 5 runs and count the contacts from each run to get an overall number of contacts. This "overall number of contacts" will be put through a point system. Tiltless level tricks or higher. No toe bails. Consecutive repeat tricks are limited to 5 contacts. Take 2 vids for a total of 10 strings and submit them here or to my email at JordanAlejandro@aim.com

::Point System::
(Every amount of contacts gets a certain amount of points)

:arrow: 10 Contacts=1 Points

:arrow: 20 Contacts=2 Points

:arrow: 30 Contacts=3 Points

:arrow: 40 Contacts=4 Points

:arrow: 50 Contacts=5 Points

:arrow: 60 Contacts=6 Points

ect...

::Example::

Heres an example of how it works (Based off of Zac Miley's Runs)

1st Run-32 Contacts

2nd Run-11 Contacts

3rd Run-13 Contacts

4th Run-6 Contacts

5th Run-3 Contacts

Total=65 Contacts

Points Earned-6

(Players will be counting there own contacts and posting them in the description of there own vid)

IMPORTANT

When your done filming, put both your attempts in 1 video. Then upload it to any site you would like (Youtube/Footbag.org perfered) After you have dont that, email the vid to me at JordanAlejandro@aim.com. I will post all the vids and the final scores when the week has ended. (To have it more organized, please put both your attempts in 1 video, and include the amount of contacts for each attempt.)

------------------------

::Stats::

1st-Jordan A=14 Points
2nd-Josh G=11 Points
3rd-Zac M=9 Points
4th-John G=8 Points
5th-Kevin=6 Points
5th-Cody=6 Points

Although it is not about adds, how about some form of add standard, like guiltless runs or better, or nothing below 2 adds?

You could also enforce a no repeat rule on consecutive moves longer than 5.

Just trying to think of creative ways to keep it interesting. Otherwise I feel this would turn into a toe stall or drilling comp.

This almost seems like it could be a 5 x Rippin' Run. Is that sorta what you had in mind?

I think an add standard would be a bad idea because I want Tiltless players to have fun with this game also. I think Tiltless or higher would of been a better description.

A no repeat rule is a great idea.

In Berlin they play a really sweet game where you have to go guiltless and only the genuine contacts from your string count and it's a race to 100 (or whatever) contacts. Really really pushes consistency!

this sounds like a good idea

nubies may not be able to get 25 contacts 5 times in a row however i agree no editing

there is 0 advantage to doing 4 5 6 adds?

can i do osis> clipper x 5 then pixie pendulum fairy pendulum x5 and cant doing alernating moves 5 x

Its not about just one run with contacts.. Its how many contacts you can get overall from all 5 runs.

This is an example..

1st Run-18 Contacts

2nd Run-9 Contacts

3rd Run-23 Contacts

4th Run-13 Contacts

5th Run-27 Contacts

=90 Contacts

Meaning you will get 3 Points.

Understand?

I will put this example in the first post.

There is no advantage to adds.. Its about having fun, so if you wana throw 4 and 5 adds in your runs that your comfortable with, go right ahead. No one is stopping ya. Although 1 add tricks are not accepted (Kicks, Toe Stall, Inside Stall, ect..)

Do any combinations you like.. After all it is FREESTYLE Footbag. But, to prevent people from just doing 30 infinities in a row for 5 runs, I had to put a limit on b2b repeat tricks. So 5 b2b repeats is the limit.

I'll do it. When should we start?

If you're trying to be like rippin' run though, their consecutive move limit is 3.

Although Ive had people explain to me what rippin run is, I still dont find it that similar to this, but its all good. Even if its not as original as I thought it was, I still think its a pretty fun idea.

I will be starting this as soon as I get 5 or more people to compete.

Let me know if you want in on this shredders!

and I will write your names down for the first run of the competition.

You should run both intermediate and open versions of this so n00bs don't get destroyed by Tom Mosher.

Intermediates maybe 2's and above with open with 3s and above. Just an idea, that is if enough people show interest.

Also, what about toe bails? If someone has say a 25 contact run but then toe bails after a drifter does the move following the bail begin the next string or just a continuation of the same string?

Bump.

Everything is now addressed in the first post. With a video example!

Check it out, and tell me your thoughts.

(Thanx to Zac Miley for making the vid)

Can I send a video where you can't see the bag, like Zac's? My wicked air shred skills will be put to use :twisted:

That's a cool idea for a game, not for a competition. I think you'll discover the scoring will produce one winner and a thousand runner ups, but I'm down for it.

My idea was a running tally, so it wasn't just based on a week's worth of videos.

So everyone had one video (or two, now) per week and they counted the contacts, which got added onto their pile.

I'd like to see how it evolves, and I think it would be neat to get some of the more skilled players on modified involved.

Also, don't make fun of my camera. :P It's my laptop's webcam.

Heres the list of people that will be competing? (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Me
Zac Miley
Kevin Hogan
John Goode
PoisonTaffy (Sorry I dont know your name)

Thats 5.. More would be awesome. But everything is good right now.

::Things in Mind::

I wana keep the point system I made up. I feel it will keep the numbers on things (low) and easy to manage.

Would it be cool if I had weekly winners, monthly winners, and even a YEAR winner?

It would be the same concept as a player of the week or player of the month or MVP of the year. I think it would be an awesome idea! How do you guys feel?

Hopefully this kicks off and people enjoy it enough for it too stick around for a while, so get your fellow footbaggers to get in on this competition!

I think it'd be cool to have weekly and monthly winners at the very least. If you are willing to keep track of everything to have a yearly winner then have at it.

Also, maybe try to get some sort of prize donation for monthly winners as more motivation maybe.

Looking forward to this
John Goode
