May Madness Consecutive Kicks Competition (1 minute)

Post by boyle » 30 Apr 2020 12:34

Hello everyone. I am going to run a consecutive kicks competition for the month of May. This thread will be where the leaderboard is updated and will have any further information.

Please see this post for more information - http://sportslashlife.com/may-madness-f ... mpetition/

You need to film a video of you do one minute consecutive kicks. No stalls. The official rules (drops, alternating feet, upper body fouls) will only be considered for the top rankings. Just see how many you can do. Upload your video (preferably Youtube or Instagram). You just need to let me know in anyway that you have made an entry. The best way to enter will be to post in this thread, however you can contact me directly to enter as well.

The whole point of this is to have as many people having a go as possible and hopefully having fun with it. You can still be trick in your one minute, but they need to be kicking tricks as no stalls are allowed.

Shoes are also optional in these isolation times where you may be limited to kicking inside.

Prizes

1st - $50
2nd - $25
3rd - $15
There will also be a random prize ($10) for a certain number entry. Enter as many times as you like. I won't say the number so people don't manipulate their entries to take that prize.

Here are a couple of people to give you some motivation.

You have the whole month of May to give it a go.

This post will be the leaderboard. It will be updated every few days.

May 9 - We have a new leader. Richard Tse from China with 179, using his shuttlecock kicking skills - mainly insides.

May 5 - Derrick Fogle with a strong first entry - 157. I have had a few goes and am getting around the 100 mark but getting some drops. I want to do a dropless round before I submit something. It certainly won't be that high though.

1. Richard Tse - 179
2. Bruce Li - 170
3. Derrick Fogle - 157
4. Brian Sherril - 145
5. Sean Nyman - 141
6. Tricia Sullivan George - 134
7. Daniel Boyle -123
8. Finn - 111
9. Ken Somolinos - 110

I'll be allowing an extra day if any people want to get their entries in, I've had quite a few in the last day or so.

Here are my entries for posterity! I tried a few different styles to see how they would compare:

Freestyle kicks (82) - https://youtu.be/PfwGg656y7o

Knee > Knee (123) - https://youtu.be/ogTlQM4r1pc

Knee > Inside (126) - https://youtu.be/PIOAkeq4Odc

I knew the freestyle kicks wouldn't be as high, but I wanted to get an initial baseline. The other patterns were pretty close and I think my actual scores had more to do with the BPM of the music I was playing rather than the actual technique. That being said I felt like the Knee > Inside pattern took less mental and physical effort and allowed for easier recoveries on errant kicks.

Thanks Rory. I've had a a bunch of entries the last couple of days so I will need to get things updated. That's the end time for submissions so thanks to all who entered. Brian is in the lead so far, but I will go back and do a verification on all the videos in the coming days.
