Juggling da footbag

Post by kaos » 03 Jun 2004 05:47

How many of you can juggle two footbags (as seen in many routines)?

I am interested in learning this art, mostly to use as a crowd pleaser. Do you guys have any tips, in particular related to the set/timing/catch parts?

Thanks in advance.

You want to do it as straight as possible. Straight as in front to back. Away to twords (sp).

Practice with one bag and get the timing of the second hop THEN add the second bag.
VERY crowd pleaseing when you can seal it.

I came up with a wild idea a while ago: Is pendulum joggling possible?
Someone who controls his pendulums perfectly should try this...

In Balance of Power he hits ripwalk while juggling with his hands. its not super clean, but impressive. he also juggles 3 bags with feet, and hands, and some other crap, check it out.

juggling does add a nice finesse to routines and throws in more variety. My best is only 6 :? i havent worked with it that much though. but i try making that circular motion with the foot and keeping the bags close to me. i think u really just need a nice set for each.

i've been working on this some but just cannot seem to get it right. can someone explain juggling 2 & 3 with in more detail? what height should the bags be at? by the time i stall the first bag the second is inches away.

last weekend i participated in a fantastic juggling show & i'd like to work on footbag juggling for the show next year. the video currently up on the website is from last years performance, but the new one will be released soon. http://www.juggleville.com/ enjoy!

well..

for the 2 footbag juggling I set one footbag on toe and the other one on my hand... I drop the footbag from the hand and just after I throw the footbag on toe, so when the first goes down on the toe, the second one just leave it... and then... straight up and with the thumb of the foot pointing up (I make it like this to make the footbag going next to me)...

I don't know if I had explain it correctly, my english sucks!!!

Juggling tips:

1. When you are fist learning the motion, try only one catch at a time.
2. The set for juggling is not your standard toe set. Figure out this set, and you have figured out juggling. Your foot travels in a semi-circular pattern: Start by catching the bag close in towards you body and then circling down, then slightly out, then up, and ever so slightly back in. You have to set the bag with your leg extended out slightly so that the arc of the bag can send it back towards your leg. Picture is worth a thousand words here.
3. Only focus on the bag you are about to catch, not the catch itself: I keep my gaze towards the top of the arc pattern.

The box looking thing at the bottom is supposed to be a foot :P.
Direction of bag is shown by arrows. Leg is cut at the knee.

Not very useful for learning, but the two vids at the bottom are juggling:
