Max ... this video was absolutely rediculous. It's definately an all time keeper. Archive it pour moi! woot!

Max, your shred is phizz-at. Well, along with everything in this vid. Everyone is so good. So many hard combos, so many hard tricks, so fun to watch!

I enjoyed the music. It definately looked professionally done. In fact, out of most footbag videos, I'd say this is one of the better of anything in the past. You stuck to the shred and I was enthralled the whole time. I didn't dare fast forward one part. It was like an hr. of my life disappeared to well presented, high paced, high calibre shredding. The fact you released it as a torrent and not on dvd also is a big boost. I'll give you my money if you end up producing anything else like this in the future. I value it that much...

... my value comes in the motivation through watching it. I'm mostly a solo-shredder, and on an extended holiday break, no one from my home town shreds with me. For the last 4 weeks my shred has simply been lackadaisical. After watching this vid I headed to the Y. I had a great session. I ended up hitting 13 different 5'ers (counting xdex ) both sided (fog, blurry drift, blurry whirl, blurriest, backside blur, bedwetter, spin duck butter, mobius, scor tail, witchdoctor, ps whirl, p blend, and tide). I realize it's pretty useless since my 220lbs ass can't link anything, but still uncanny for my game. I also hit two new tricks I never hit before. Inspinn(mob)ius and uhh, blurry illusioning op butter, whatever the heck that's called. I can't believe how much I blame this little advance in my game from this video. Truly an inspiration!

So thanks max!

Cheers!

Hahaha, I remember Harry Perry from when I was in LA. Good to see he's still around.

Thanks Max, that was so well produced. It is now the video I'm going to show new hackers if they're interested. Great job and nice shred skills! Damn! You're so much better since I played with you last.

zeit fuer ein machtwort....
max hier is nichts boes gemeint ne, nich falsch lesen
es sind meine gedanken zu film oder shred vid oder wie auch immer

allright i am watching it for the second time now commenting live, hah.

first of all, i think the vid is way too long.
you have some interesting parts that are destroyed by repitition.

beatboxing for example....man, i must say it totally annoyes me. i
already have to live with it at every tournament (greets to the city
cowboy ;), but that is a personal thing. in a video, i think it is a good idea
to put it in, but you totally overdo it. it is just too long, nothing new.
if i am forced to receive information more than once it totally pisses me
off. it is like a hollywood movie. i can not watch this pathetic shit. you
know whats gonna happen cuz the stories are ridiculous, you see it
happening, they say whats gonna happen and the music underlines the
same thing.
where im getting at is that i think the most important thing when you
produce anything is to reduce it to the core.
i know the feeling when you fall in love with certain scenes or stuff but
you just have to drop every ballast.

for example think about the part when mazze is shredding in the
tram......i like it as an insert, but you do not use the best shot, you seem
to use every shot of it. thats what totally annoyes me since i do not see
anything new.

the same goes for some shred scenes, which differ only slightly.
additionally, do i have to see vasek hit pdx eggbeater both sides,
connected with butterflies? everybody knows what insane stuff he hits,
so i am bored when i see him hit this.

you use parallel cuts between shred and beatbox, i do not see any reason
for that. the beatbox gets me out of the rhythm. or better i do not get into
any rhythm, cuz - sorry folks - neither vasek nor felix can drop and hold
a rhythm which is on the point.

i like the idea of letting the viewer now something about the different
locations of your trip. i am thinking of an intro which transfers the trip
feeling to me somehow. the text you use confuses me a bit, since you cut
back and forth between the areas.

i like the cut at 12:13, the insert with paul pointing at the cam.
dude you have so many good scenes. reduce it.
for shred i either dont wanna see someone bust pdx torque, butter, blurry
whirl, butter, ps whirl, butter, blurriest, butter........get my point? heh :)

i know it was impossible for you, but the tripod scenes get me out of it.
i think i would not use them. on the other hand it is chad playing right
now, and i like to see him shred. whatever.
the problem with those scenes is though that you cut these together at
some point without varying the angle which underlines the oldschool
shred tape feeling.

the guy with the guitar is WICKED. and its a perfect soundtrack for the
shred scenes, i really like this. seriously, this is great.

editing:
personally it is not my style, i try to be objective anyway.
i can not see the point in screening names only for you, yves, felix and
vasek (did i miss someone?). are you the chosen ones?

shred:
i would not use footage with not clean dexes, and you have tons of that. it
annoys me watching this :)

20:05 : very nice shot.
20:29: this is a very nice spot.

hehe ilkka and lasse, this is nice....tournament feeling. good to start the
music before shred starts. fluent.

haha frauenquote gibs auch LOL ;))))

i think the close shot of pauls face does not fit into the whole thing.
the focus is on the trees in the backround too :)

yves:
i think this part is really good. he has the best runs of this video, you
vary the spots a lot and you use different angles and image sizes (lol,
word? einstellungsgroessen). the smooth zoom you did once does not feel
like an effect but rather natural, i like that. good.

but please, why do i have to see tims ass? it was not funny in "the
sickening" and it still isnt.

the track at 43:20 is wicked, what is this? =)

the yellow letters on the black and whites pictures at the end are nice.

allright i am sorry that my feedback got more and more confusing.

one hour footbag is way too much for me.
i think your video starts working after 25 mins or something, starting with
yves' part. but then i am nearly already tired of shred.
there are a lot of good scenes, nice shots and hilarious inserts.
i would prefer a video around 20-30 minutes with just those.

i am not sure about my credibility though with this extrem long post.

happy new year !

I agree with almost all of what Machtin says... Thanks for summing it up. A lot of the video was FANTASTIC. Many of the ideas were really cool and had really great flow, but were killed because they either went on for too long or were featured in other videos. I think another good example of this was the intro to the video -- really, really cool. The color insert in the b&w shot of Matt playing was very atmospheric, but it went on for, like, 3:30?? If you had cut it down to at the most 1:00 it wouldn't have seemed so... boring. The same goes for the beatbox scene, Matthias on the bus, etc... Anyway, I'm rambling. Machtin put it best, I won't reword what he's already said. This could have been an incredible 15-30 minute video that I would watch all the time from beginning to end, but instead I find myself rewatching select parts only. At any rate, since I can't remember if I've already thanked you somewhere in this thread, THANKS for the effort. This is, despite anyone's ill opinions concerning it, a wonderful gift to anyone in the footbag community who has happened to experience it.

thanks faborze for a honest reply -

most of the things you say i can see, and think you have a point.
just a couple things -
the names were for those players where i had enough footage to make "sections" so this is myself, chad, yves, felix, vasek - i didn't have enough footage of the others to do some - might seem egocentric to put meyself up with these players, isn't meant that way - anybody i had enough footage of would have had a section.

i find the video too long as well, but i tend to loose the necessary distance to the movie - so i have a hard time cutting things out, finding out what is too much and what isn't .

i like bbox, though, that is very true, neither felix nor vasek can hold beats very well, but i do think it is getting better. matter of opinion mainly IMO.

did i use that much footage of blatently the shred? - of course some of ilja's and some other, but if i don't have much footage of single players, i am not gonna drop a whole string cause one move is the.

you are very right it is wayyy too much tripod stuff - this was my way of getting rid of it...

thanks for your comments - the track you mean is "stand up tall" by dizzee rascal

see ya this weekend...
m

ps: please use your real name in signature - i had to read your other posts to know who you are, with such a critical post i think it comes off weird not to use your real name... "Powerin Words"

yo max,

you really did not know it was me? cant believe that :)
anyway, it was a childish joke, but then again, why not?
lol

names:
it confuses me since you do not have clear borders between
different players or random footage. or am i wrong?
i dont remember a clear strucutre, maybe thats whats missing.

the the issue:
i dont know if its that much... i think for me personally it is just a thing
which upsets me. for me a the trick is no trick, and i dont understand why
people dont pass the back then but keep going. ditt hatt eenfach keen style is doch kla.

distance to it:
i exactly know what you mean. thats what i called falling in love with
certain scenes. i have similar feelings with the documentary im working
on at the moment. the question is - what information do you want to
transfer with any means? and then check every shot if it fits into it or is
redundant.

max, could you maybe burn a cd with that rascal song and the french
hiphop when mazze starts playing? i really like them. that videogame
beat is MENTHAL.

I agree with Fabian. Mostly.

The one point that I agree most on was the length of the video. Lots of shred is good, but you also want to look at the overall "average level of shred" over the entire video. If it's one hour of pure sick shred, sick links, and sick tricks, SWEET...But it's not. There is some really sick stuff in there...(in fact quite a bit) but there isn't an hour.

Myself, if I were given all the clips in the video as raw clips...I would probably only end up with 40 minutes of finished video. My thinking being that if it's all the best of the best on there, the viewer will stay much more attentive during the video. (And you're not selling it, so what difference does it make if it's 40 minutes or 60 minutes? The average length of a video on modified is like 5 minutes anyway! :D)

Continuing on, I'm also not the biggest fan of beatboxing. I think it's pretty cool in moderation...but at the beginning there, I was trying to pay attention to the shred and the beatbox at the same time...y'know, catch the "highlights"...and I found I kept missing parts of the shred because I was focused on the audio. In my opinion, the audio should compliment the shred, but when beatbox is presented in such a "performance-style" fashion, it kinda grabs my attention more than it should. I'm also a music major though, so...I was probably paying attention more than other people were.

Clean dexes are important. I agree on this point as well.

Also with the "borders" between sections. You made it work really well in some parts, like the opening > beatbox > that's the sound of da police!...that was sweet. But other parts, like between the "featured players" and other parts. ie: when it then goes into Pinkus hitting some stuff. I was like, "Okay so is Chris being featured now?" idk, just my thoughts.

Something that was REALLY good that I actually lack when I film are the little inserts in the shred, like the "I am a man of honor" speech. I laughed. That was good. It's cool to have raw audio sometimes as opposed to a soundtrack, and you did that well.

I really liked the tram shred too. Pretty sick. :D

So in the end, I suppose my main qualm was the lack of reduction on the shred. It's kind of like a piece of advice a DJ gave me once, on buying records.

Choose 10 that you like. Then buy 2.

Choose ONLY the best of the best.

I definitely enjoyed the video, don't get me wrong. I watched it through at like 1am when I was already tired...I kept saying to myself "I can watch the rest later..."

...and then I just "didn't". I went to bed at 2.

Thanks for throwing this online.

Wow...this is a really good video; I mean I couldn't find any point in the vid where it lost momentum. Pretty much the best footbag vid I've seen thus far heh; if I were ever to introduce someone to footbag I would use Berlin On Tour.
