Myaci is one of the lamest things I've ever seen. Lamer than cup stacking even. I try to be accepting of other freestyle sports, as footbag isn't the coolest thing in the world in other peoples eyes, but really? Try contact juggling. Same deal, but with an object you can actually drop if you screw up.

I don't get how they can get hot chicks to do that.

How depressing...

Also, that's what I say after I watch any porn movie.

That was Sebastien Peron, he was the first freestyle footbagger I met. He was wearing modded lavers, etc.

Summer 1998, Camp Oswego, Phish Concert. Real nice guy.

First think about how to practice or don't bother practicing.

You're right, it wasn't hilarious to you, but you see, I think a lot of things are funny.

As for Myachi, I think it's a good skillbuilder if you have no coordination in your hands. I am going to look into 'contact juggling', but I'll have to get some coordination first, as I have a hard time catching bags people pop up quickly to me. My feet are fine, though... :P
Anyway, I'm glad the community is still as bitchy and as tight ass'd as always, aside from the last 4-6 posts.

As for losing the whole two minutes of your life, you could have just as easily skipped forward when you seen Myachi if you didn't care, or just not watch the fucking video. I posted to let people who'd like it see it, but maybe I should have clarified what it was a little bit more so that people wouldn't bitch that they 'wasted' their precious 2 minutes they would have otherwise spent doing something else that was unproductive, while I am spending this 3 minutes writing a near useless post thats pretty much a rant, sadly enough.

I typed "Myachi" into google, and on myachi.com they had a video of it. They did an entire segment on the early show of it. "The next generation of hacky sack!" They kept saying. How does this make the early show, and footbag doesnt? We need some serious promotion.

Agreed, its pretty woeful that that is being considered by some of the public as the 'next generation of hackysack' moreso than what we are doing.

Yeah,

Post by moparman » 19 Jan 2009 15:59

Yes, that is very true. I've been getting footbag out a LOT at my school. A friend of mine (Chris, if you read this, yes it's you) actually started reading up on it and stuff when he seen me practicing my clippers and pixies and knows some stuff now, so maybe that'll happen more often. It seems as if most people in my school are a bunch of pricks who think anything different (such as Footbag, Parkour, Freerunning, etc.) is freaking stupid or 'a waste of time' until some jock or singer starts getting into it.

Yeah, I hate my area...

But aside form that, the community as a whole needs to do something. Maybe get a reporter for something like the Today Show to go and... 'report on'?... a tournament/show/jam/what-thefuck-ever is going on at the time to get the word out that Footbag is actually larger than just kicking a 'sack' or 'ball' around in a circle.

I dunno, maybe it's just the simple fact that most people ( in the current generations ) automatically think 'hippie' and 'stupid' when they see a footbag. The worst part is that a lot of the negativity seems to come from the people we need the most, which are teenagers.

I agree. I pretty much live at my local skate shop that sells some crocheted hacky sacks (that really aren't that good at all but are decent for something that isn't a Mr. or a 32) and today a couple kids walked in and looked at them and started saying to each other, "Who would want to do that? Its such a waste of time! What do you do just kick the bag and thats it? Stupid." I walked over to them and tried to explain how fun and enternaining it is once you get into it, and that there is way more to it than just kicking it around. They, however, just completely blew me off and just asked for some stickers. I love how open minded kids are.
