The night that I met Tom\was in introduced to footbag.
It all started out with me having the idea with my friend to stay up for the last night of "summer", 2 days before school. We decided to also get 40 and get a little drunk. We were walking up and down the main downtown street of Kingston, when we decided to go get some marijuana form a local dealer. It was around 2 in the morning, and we were just leaving our "friends" house, when we decided to go up town instead of downtown. As soon as we turned our first corner from where we were getting out of the house, we spotted a lighted parking lot, and we heard music. coming from low quality speakers.
There was a wall blocking our view of the noise, so we went around the wall, continuing our our journey up town, and to the left of us we spotted a person, who appeared to be dancing by himself at 2 in the morning, while listening to music.
It was once we approached, that we then noticed a bags being tossed up and down with his feet. I was amazed, I can tell you now that he was doing infinities for about 20 contacts when i first saw him. We asked questions, then he offered us some marijuana out of a pipe. We said yes, then continued our questions, followed by a quick introduction, that was followed by a long introduction later that night. But staying on subject. I remember that i was wearing my white Marc Echo mid cut shoes, with the Velcro opinion on the side. I already owned a hacky sack, and i could do toes stalls on my one foot good, but not on the other. I also Tom up a bit by doing an ATW, he gave me mad props
.
We then stayed and played for about 45, then he invited us to his place to smoke some more marijuana, followed by that introduction to footbag, the detailed one. I was then convinced that I wanted to play footbag, and have Tom as my tutor. The next week I ordered a pair of white and green Lavers, and that was the end of that......well i guess it was the start of this...
Hope you enjoyed my story.

Well a bunch of friends and I were playing Rock Band in the lounge of one of the dorm buildings and I asked a friend of mine who I knew played if I could try it. (you all may know him as Darkshredder here aka Pat Thomsen). I tried it and now I am hooked!

I thought I posted something like this before, but I guess that was at footbag.org.
Eric Windsor randomly im-ed me one day on AOL because I had hacky sack in my profile. I was known as like the hacky sack queen to anyone who knew me. I always had a bag in my pocket and busted it out anywhere. All I could do was kick mostly one-sided I think like up to 30 times??? And I could jester, although I called it the "jumping kick". And I did what I called the "monkey serve" where I stuck the bag inbetween my feet, got on to my hands, and flipped my feet over my head while letting the bag go. I could toe stall. Maybe other things but really not much.
Anyways, Eric im-ed and told me about footbag. I was instantly hooked. I tried stuff with my favorite knit bag I bought with tickets at an arcade and Chuck Taylors.
I eventually got Lavers and Sandmasters, and Eric sent me some Sandmans. He coached me some over the internet. I watched a bunch of Hack Rules (or however you spell it??) videos where I fell in love with Chad D. and Chris Pinkus' styles...
Then I became even queen-er at hacky sack.

During my first year of high school, way back in fall of 1999, I started to make friends with a cool group of guys who happened to play hacky sack a lot in their spare time (Jamie Lloyd being one of them, for those who might know him). We all kicked together every day at lunch for our entire freshman year of highschool, so needless to say, after a good year of doing that we became pretty good. Curious about what new tricks we could learn, Jamie and I then went online to search up something like 'hacky sack tricks', and low and behold came across the one and only footbag.org. I can still remember the first video trick I clicked on, which was Tu Vu busting a Flurry, and me being absolutely blown out of my mind. I immediately registered for the website in hopes to one day be able to hit crazy stalls like clippers or even butterflies.
Not too long after registering, I recieved a call from Rob Fuller, inviting Jamie and I to come play footbag with him and a few of his friends that had been into freestyle for about a year longer than Jamie and I had. The next Saturday we went down to the park to play with Rob and three of his freestyle friends, and again, I was blown out of my mind to see them hitting moves like I had been watching on footbag.org. Footbag pros, right in front of my eyes!
From that point forward I was hooked. Not only had I found footbag freestylers living in the same City, but guys that were the same age as me, and after only playing for a year, were hitting moves that were so fast my eyes could not even follow them at the time.
After a few weeks of shredding with them, we all agreed to put together a formal footbag club, in hopes of organizing weekly meet ups, and even put together a summer tournament later in the year. Jamie was the one who came up with the name Shred Zero, and we all liked the sounds of it, so thus, Shred Zero was born - circa spring 2001.

I started to hack back in may of 2006 I believe around the time of my marching band trip. People always did it at school so I tried to jump in every now and then. While on the trip to canada my friends and I became determined to get our own hacky sacks.
I soon later purchased my first sandmaster. I first learned to jester cause that was like the coolest thing my friend josh could do (I later learned he was super jestering). I also soon learned to stall. I could do it on 1.5 sides. My inside stalls were crap. When my one other crazed friend was doing the magic hop when inside stalling I told him he was crazy lol. But yeah we all learned minimal stuff. But then it happened.
One day in physics class in late 2007, my friend told me of the Modest Mouse video on youtube with Lon Smith. It was love at first sight. Here I am, nearly nine months later, loving every second of it. All my friends are amazed by the stuff and after several attempts at getting some friends to get into freestyle as well, while failing, there is one who is interested. So yeah, that is my footbag story

Well, I started hackey-sack in my freshman year of high school. About a year later my friend vince showed me toe stalls and pendulums and i was like, " I gotta learn how t odo this." So I messed around with toe stalls and beginner stuff for a year or so and never really got any better. This year tho, I met mat cross and that completely changed my game. Now I'm a college freshman and I can't get enough footbag
that's awesome, i uploaded that vid to youtube!!g00d33 wrote:But then it happened.

I actually found freestyle footbag by clicking a youtube link that had a man doing tricks with oranges.
Then I went to the related videos... and then I found flipsider, and then I found Anz videos, and then I found modified, and then I bought some really crappy bags, and then I bought some good bags, and then I bought my lavers, and then I added Tom Mosher on MSN... and then I stitched my first bag... and then I started talking to Matt Cross (The nicest guy in the f***in world)... and then I stitched my second bag...
And now I look for players in my city, but I could never find a single one... so I play alone... and I probably have so many flaws in my game that someday I will have to learn it from scratch.
I'm 27 and I'm from Sao Paulo - Brazil.

Friends of mine were playing in a circle after school, I joined in and could barely hit the bag once. My friend gave me the bag they were playing with, a crotcheted one. I practiced with it and looked up videos of hackysack online... and came across vasek. I was amazed and bought a pair of lavers and have been playing been playing for about a month now, like 2 or 3 hours a day. I can't wait until I start hitting tough tricks... people around here are amazed by easy toe stalls and keep the bag up for more than 3 hits...
I played hacky sac since 8th grade. I always had a sac on me and became the guy starting the circle everywhere I went. I tryed to see if I could kick 100 inside kicks , 100 toe kicks, then I kick for 42 minutes. The only stall I new was toe stall and inside stall. One funny thing is that when anyone would self serve , they would get the sac thrown or kicked at their nuts.
When I got to college, one of my friends showed me an atw and a clipper. IT WAS ON! Then I met Rob Creel , who would kick with us every now and then. He then went to Prague for a semester. When he came back, I found out about Vasek and modified and all the cool stuff. The only videos I would watch were Vasek and Lon. Lon inspired me to start working on ducking and torques (still a huge staple in my game) and the first sick 3 I saw was Vasek hitting montage>whirlwind>Montage rake. I have been working toward that sick 3 for the last 7 years. One day....
Now I have a footbag everywhere I go and practice everywhere I can

needless to say out of the 2000 people in our school I WON!! (not joking ither)
but that was how i heard bout footbag, though tryd for a few years to get going with it, but kinda felt on my own with it, didnt know there was a whole community, and a fair few players in britian.
so now im back playing, and im ganna kick some ass!!!! hehe
