ENOUGH RED BULL for EVERYONE!

When I read that Chilly Philly had been cancelled, I saw this as a great opportunity to bring the Northeast Shred Scene together in Rochester. Then, I started to think about venues, and first one that came to mind was Bush Mango.

Bush Mango is a local converted warehouse space in Downtown Rochester. It is host to African dance classes, huge drumming concerts, and drum circles. I've been to one of their drum and dance events, and it was more a community celebration than a concert.

I envisioned an event where drummers were jamming in a ring around the room, with the big space in the center filled up with awesome East Coast shred circles! I emailed the organizers, and yesterday, one said he was incredibly into it, and convinced the other two today! He wants to get all kinds of local media coverage, and make it a huge event with all the local drummers and their friends, and lots of local teens to check out the cool event. Basically, he's really into promoting this and making it a huge party and a community event.

The room is incredible, It's very spacious, flat, with hardwood floors. I'll take some pictures soon. It's beautiful, and just perfect for a huge freestyle footbag event.

They have offered it to us on New Year's Eve for FREE (waiving a fee of HUNDREDS of dollars) although there is the recommended donation mentioned above. On Sunday, that will just be jam day for footbag players. We'll have to pay about $5 a person to use the space from noon to 4, but once again, this is at a MASSIVE discount, and they just want to cover their heating costs. There will be drinks and snacks sold on site as well.

After we wrap it up at Bush Mango, we can party all night at my place! It's gonna be one all out crazy footbag style New Year's Eve party in Rochester, and I want to see all the Northeast scene players make it out!
WE HAVE CRASH SPACE!

Rochester is 3 hours from Kingston, 3 hours from Toronto, 4 hours from Albany, 6 from New York City, 6 from Harrisburg, 5 from Montreal!!! It's CLOSE!!!!

I need someone to design a t-shirt logo! I pictured a big African looking hand drum, and the skin on top looks like a 3 colored 32, and it's got some hip looking guy playing it, and maybe a silhouette of a paradox whirl on the front of the drum or something. All other ideas are cool, too, but I feel drumming should be included as well. Let's see some submissions!!

WHO'S WITH MEEEEEEEEE!?!?!?!??!

***IMPORTANT INFO FOR CONCERNED PARENTS AND FREESTYLERS:***

The footbag events at Bush Mango will be DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE. They are marketing this event towards local teenagers. I just felt that should be cleared up, because I know that some parents had their concerns.

The New Year's Eve party at my house will not be alcohol-free. A lot of the freestylers coming to this tournament are of age, and we'll want to relax and celebrate and ring in the new year with some beers.

I have been going to footbag tournaments since I was in my mid-teens, and I was never pressured by the older players to get messed up when I was younger. I feel that that attitude remains the same in the footbag community. No one has to drink to fit in.

If parents have concerns about the party (or any other matters), please feel free to call or email me.

I doubt anyone in montreal will go to chicago anyways
So I guess I'm there!

i can take the commuter rail to Worcester, MA, and a Greyhound from there to Rochester NY, arriving at 6:35 PM on the 31st, and a return trip on the 1st leaving at 2:40 PM for a total of about 110 bucks (figuring in the commuter rail). hmmm. 18 total traveling hours, just on the greyhound (probably about 20 total...plenty of time for stabbin sack, at least), and about 18 total hours in Rochester...i could use the entire time for shredding and whatnot if i didnt sleep at all, and saved it all for the trip...hmmm.

and at least this way i could get my hoodie from yah, right mosh?

EDIT---also rumor has it Joe K. is thinking of going, so i would just have to convince him to go like 50 miles out of his way to pick up me and bander :o it would definitely save money, at least....

Fricken A, I'm getting all excited and this seems like a "reach" for me to go. I'll have a better chance if Peter goes - parents don't want me to go down by myself. It is possible we could hook up with anyone else in the boston area and get more people to go down together? Woot!
