I have searched far and wide, THERE AIN'T NO TERREVERDE'S IN PRAGUE!!!! How ever I have found some nice deals ranging from about 17 euro per night(half what the hostles were I looked at). The places all looked nice, and they were able too sleep from 4 to 10 or more people. All had kitchens and ac bathrooms and satelite tv etc... All are near trains.
Anyone interested in staying with me, pm me see ya ted fritsch

I would suggest everyone just stay at hostels. All you really need is a place to lay down. Last time I was in Prague I stayed at the Clown and Bard. Cool place, decent bar downstairs, really close to some cool places to party, and 24 hour reception, so you can roll in from the streets after binging all night, and no one will judge...

Well the dollar is falling pretty quick, and the czech crown has been steadily rising pretty quick for the last few years...
Hostels should still be the most inexpensive, and quite frankly, practical way for a large group of footbaggers to congregate.
Clown and Bard is only about $19 a night, with free breakfast and internet. It was about $12 when i was there two years ago...
If I can save enough to actually get back to Prague, that's where I'll be staying...
Who needs a whole house anyway. Prague is crazy, and still pretty cheap. If you aren't sleeping or kicking, you'll be site seeing, or drinking in one of the plethora of beer gardens.
god damn I want to get back there so bad...

225czk is more like $15 these days.mohkale wrote:Hostel Strahov is 225 Czech Crowns (~11 USD) a night in a double room. It's right next to the event site. I've been there (2003), it's a prison, don't go there.
I just rented an apartment with a good location, a jacuzzi and a fireplace for 27€ a night.![]()

I've stayed at some pretty awful hostels, and I know the Clown is a wicked chill place, with a cool bar downstairs. It's in Zizkov, which is a totally bad ass section of Prague if you know your way around.
I just love the way hostels work, and the numerous amounts of crazy people you encounter at them. If any of you are planning on staying a bit longer, or showing up early and traveling around, i say go to a hostel with a bar, sit down with whoever you see there and find out what they are doing, or have been doing, or are going to do. You'll see some stuff

you never dreamed about.

I still don't see were hostels are cheaper. I will say this if you have never experienced a hostel environment(check spelling) than that is cool do it. I have met people from all over the world. For the price I am looking for some folks too share a luxery(check spelling) place for the price of a stinky hostel. ted f

I think they are! I stayed there one night last time and there was no security, I could not close my windows, some drunk guy entered my window who didi not speak english and only left when I hit him in the head with a glass. I moved too a hostel not far from the site. Then it was 18 euros for a dorm and 36euros for a private.

Is that the huge concrete block at the top of the humongous hill?Hostel Strahov is 225 Czech Crowns (~11 USD) a night in a double room. It's right next to the event site. I've been there (2003), it's a prison, don't go there.
If so, I'd also avoid that place. We stayed there a couple of days during Worlds (or was it Euros?) ... Anyway, the trek up and down the hill is never-ending. It seems even longer when you're tired from a night out on the town.
Oh yeah we (about a dozen French footbaggers) also got kicked out of there in the middle of our stay without any explanation what-so-ever.
I've heard that renting an apartment really can be the best deal in terms of comfort and price.
