pocket dwellers were in kingston not too long ago. great show. I was in BC so I missed it. BUT I got to see diggable planets for free becuase American Apparel was right next door to where the show was and they came in and invited us. It was a good time to be working in BC i'll tell you.. :D

Behold, y'all, the digital vats of urine
Drink up, bitches! Taste our liquid gold!
Ur, you must respect yourself, 'fore you wreck yourself
Hey, man! you made a rhyme!
Yes, it is for I am a rap god beyond the moon

Thank you thank you THANK YOU for no one saying Dizzy Rascal. He is the lamest faux-rapper out there. He's from England and his stuff just doesn't even sound like rap. It's got these like weird, hard, grinding industrial beats to it, and his voice always sounds like he just got kicked in the worse possible area if you know what I mean. I'm hatin on Dizzy. He sucks@!!@!@!! :x

Favorite real rappers:

Tribe
Del
Gangstarr
Cassidy
Em - his underground stuff is disgusting
LSD (LifeSlowedDown) - gotta mention him cuz he's from my old hood in VA. He still hasn't blown up yet, but he's got some skills

Lyrics Born...biatch.

I'm not too sure if he's still classified as underground, though.

As the general in South Park: The Movie said:

Chef: "Haven't you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclomation!?"

General: "I don't listen to hip-hop!"
Sam Mayer

Maybe "not as popular" would work better (because pretty much every artist already listed in here actually is really popular).

I like pretty much everyone from the Quannum/Solesides crew (eXpecially DJ Shadow, and Blackalicious), I like the Beatnuts, I sorta like Dan the Automator, I like Little Brother, I like Supastition, K-Otix, Strange Fruit Project, all that shit, Ghostface Killah, everything that was on the Art of One Mind Project, I like 9th Wonder, I like Mos Def/Talib Kweli/Black Star, I like Buckshot, Lunar Heights, Crown City Rockers, GANG STARR, I like Diverse, Lyrics Born, I kinda like RJD2, but he's pretty played out, I love the Coup, I love Eric B & Rakim, I love Hi-Tek, Public Enemy, Big L, Common... Masta Ace is pretty good, Trife, the Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, J5, KRS-One, Cesar Comanche, Cunninlynguists, Lauryn Hill, THETHYRDAY, MF Doom is aight, he doesn't really have any flow at all, Stezo, Akinyele, ...Uh, I'm just gonna stop now.

You come into someone elses thread, say the rappers people are listing aren't underground or even "unpopular" enough, and then go and name the rappers I put into bold? Some of those dudes went Platinum man and tons went Gold.

Where does it say that I claim to listen to "more underground" artists?

My elitist criticism and my neutral declaration of who I like are two different statements.

This isnt all really underground, but since I created this topic I can do what I want, and noone really cares!

OK, so to the meat. Its all been about that early-nineties sound for me lately, so:

ARTIFACTS.
ORGANIZED KONFUSION
BINARY STAR (Not early nineties, but they got the sound a bit)
LARGE PROFESSOR

I love this stuff and can't get enough of it. Any more recommendations?

I have a feeling a lot of you would like Jeru The Damaja. "The Sun Rises In The East" was his Freshman album, and it was produced soley by DJ Premier. Check it out.

Also, AZ is one of the greatest rappers of all time but is heavily slept on because he was over shadowed by Nas. Not that that is much of his own fault, as Nas is arguably the greatest rapper to touch the mic.

Also Pharoah Moanche is pretty sick. OC too. Early Mobb Deep tore shit up.

None of these guys are really underground, but whatev'.

Hmmmm Im not too sure about Jeru, im sort of iffy on his stuff. It took me a while to find a track that I dug enough to listen to often.

Pharoah Monche is TIGHT! I love his style, how he sort of half-sings his shit and just goes off and does whatever, he seems like a more party-oriented Mos Def when he raps, its really good.

I haven't heard enough of AZ, but what I HAVE heard is pretty mind-blowing.

Heres a good one: Royal Flush. Has mr. DJ BABU on quite a few tracks, pretty sick!
