Color Patterns [Was:"Bag styles..."]

Postby Lee » Fri Jul 07, 2006 1:02 am

I'm thinking of purchasing a new bag, but I don't know all the style combinations and such. Can someone please list the different styles (i.e. gobstopper, triclaw, dada) and describe them pretty well so I can have an idea of what to buy? That'd be fantastic.

That was by far the worst explanation of bag styles.

Maybe you would have to do some picture examples.

Triclaw is definately not self explanitory.

On the "Blur" style, I believe you need 12 hexes of one color, and 8 of the other. That Weed looks bomb, BTW.

I'm almost positive it is 10 hexs of one color then 10 of the other.
Not 12 and 8.

Even if you look at the ratio of one colour to another for a single pentagon you can tell its going to be 12 and 8. 2:3=8:12

If you still don't believe us try to stitch a 'blur' footbag with an even split of hexes.

I had spent a little bit of time working that out awhile back. Symmetry is nice ;-]

i tried it last week. i went 10/10, and it did NOT come out right. more of a da da pattern in the end, but it started right?

if you guys say how many hexes and pents in what color (basically outline the pattern color/shape) ill edit into my post, and we can sticky it if its good enough

I'll shut up. Thanks so much for this! :o

Edit: I've never tried to do that while alternating the colors. I guess thats why this never occurred to me (the 1010 split). It must be. Because I'm a genius.
Ahhahah. Thanks again, Mike.
Edit2: If this list is going to be comprehensive, all of the patterns should be layed out like the one that Mike linked to, as well as a picture of the finished footbag.

If this is going to be comprehensive, the title of the thread should be changed to "Bag color patterns/designs" or something because it's about the colors not the style (size/shape) of the bags. Just a thought.

So I guess the question is begging to be asked. Is this list supposed to be comprehensive, or was it made to be intentionally less-than-useful?

It was supposed to be comprehensive so that I could understand the different patterns. I think we should go with Johnny's edit 2 idea.

How about the Bag Lon won at SCI? That was a sick pattern and a master bag. The fact that it was a smaller bag and Lon loved it is worth a thousand compliments in itself, and the pattern was unique (or at least the first one that I've seen like it)
