New Balance CT300's and 520's

Post by jrstubs » 01 Nov 2006 15:26

I found new balance CT300's on zappos.com (http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/10409911/c/750.html) and I remembered from somewhere that people use the CT300's for freestyle. If anybody has used them or uses them what are the pros and cons of them?

Do they require modding or are they fine as is? I'm really interested

I just found new balance ct520's on zappos.com too, how do they compare to the new balance ct300's I bought the ct300's last night, but since the 520 is canvas it may be better, Im not sure though...

you mod them like mesh lavers. Cut the toe stitching, take out the inside material. Blah blah. Take out tongue padding.

ive posted a review in about 500 different places of these shoes. search for CT 300 with HenryG as the author and you will find it.

Different strokes for different folks. I've played in both models extensively, and at this point in my game if I had to go back to one or the other, I would go back to the 520.

The leather is questionable. It would make you play more crisply, for sure, but that's still a pretty slippery surface you would have to deal with. The 520's surface is decent, but they have a pretty puffy ankle area to deal with.

Do like Henry says and look up old reviews.

Also, if you were to search by his username, you would want to search by 'HG' not 'HenryG.' That sort of thing is changed retroactively.

I played in new balance 520's for a while, you might have to shoe goo the inside surface a bit, they play quite well.

I've used about five pairs of each.

I think the 300 is the better shoe, a bit heavier, but it just feels better on my foot. I use mine out of the box without removing anything from them.

the leather ct300s do NOT mod like the leather lavers. the surface underneath them is the thinnest of thin meshes. return those while you can and get either a canvas 300, or a canvas 520.

ok, I checked the ups website, my ct300's will be here today so I'll see if I like the leather (I probably wont) if I dont, I'll return them tomorrow for the canvas ct520's on zappos.

if you want to be a real BAMF, you COULD entirely cut out the inside and toe and replace the material with facile. I've seen this done on a few shoes, if you can do it in a stable way, it could be a good surface.

You're new and you're young. There is no reason I can see getting for CT's.

Use lavers till your guiltless.

his new and young what?

;)

"you're", cleaver, "you're"!!

Andy has wide feet, and considering the ct3s have just become classic shoes, he might like them and stick with them.

^ yeh what matt said, I have wide feet, so with lavers my foot pushes out the sides of the shoes and I get off balance sometimes. Im going to buy the ct 520's too, at least I think I will, or I'll just play barefoot :D

Ive seen this done before by Ben Roscoe. He used Noir for the toes and some grip mesh for the insides. I think this mod. is pretty sweet and i might do it to a pair of my old ripped up leather lavers.
Im 20
