I'm looking for steel shot, but not exactly in bearing form. I'm looking for something like scrapped steel, in which it comes in a smaller size but has a variety of the shot deformed or fused to one another. I think James Hermey and Lonn Vo used to use this type of steel shot in their bags back then, and I would like to know where I can find it.
I went to a couple of gunshops around my area asking for this type, but they only hold sizes 0-3, which were kind of big. Do you get this type in bullets and/or steel distributors/fabricators? I live near a lot of industrial sites in my neighborhood, and I'm just trying to limit my options just a bit. Maybe the guys at planetfootbag can help me out here?
edit: Corrected Lonn's last name.
Steel Shot...?

In 2003 or so i was using size 9 steel shot, the kind for reloading. Lonn Irish (or is it VO?) gave some to me way back when, since then i haven't seen it. It was all deformed like you said.
Sorry i couldn't be more help. if you find any let me know.
Peace

Alright, I did some research, and I think the deformed steel shot that I was asking for is actually steel used for shot blasting. There are two kinds: steel 'shot' and steel 'grit.' I'm betting that this steel shot is the version that's deformed and varied in size; a bit finer and smaller than shot used for hunting waterfowl. Steel grit is much coarser and abrasive, which I'm sure the Footfighter NG bags are filled with in a way.
I'm going to make a few calls around my neighborhood to get a hold of this some time.
