I'll post a picture of the bike when i get a chance, and you guys can let me know if its possible
Here are the pictures ... keep in mind i bought it for a penny.
the brakes dont work ... and the gears dont change.

-would it be expensive to convert it to be a fixie? Is it even worth it? Would it be a lot of wrok?

looks like a good bike to do it with. Just so long as you have horizontal drop outs in the back. You can make it as cheap or expensive as you want it to be.

My legs always work and they are always there moderating my speed carefully. I fully believe that an experienced fixed gear rider is the safest cyclist on the streets.
It should NEVER be a question of whether or not brakes will work. It's every bike owner's job to do routine maintenance, including checking the brakes. Your legs won't stop you if your toe straps break, cog slips, or your chain comes off (well, in the case of the latter you will likely stop immediately).

I understand what you're saying, Tom, but i don't think you should be so quick to dismiss brakes. They are an effective way of stopping (more so than skidding/skipping, if you ask me), and won't fail if you take care of them.

Now don't go let those wheels actually touch a track :p (sorry I couldn't resist)

As for brakes ... I am being a hypocrite as I have been riding breakless for the past month (in the middle of switching over to a new brake but never got around to putting it on) but breaks are a much better way of stopping the bike then your legs ever could be. The chances of brakes failing is insanely low and its much much much more likely that your chain will break.

As for who is the safest person on the road? I think that is up for debate. I would say it would likely be an experienced roadie wearing a helmet and obeying traffic laws. A lot of people riding fixed seem to neither obey laws or wear a helmet and doing both is unsafe for the rider and others that have to deal with them. Really picking anyone as safest is kinda silly.

There is too much elitism and trendiness to bikes and its frustrating really.

That guy doesn't do it for me. I get it, he can do wheelies.

Also, since he rides a time trial bike and it has that little front wheel I am constantly reminded of a dude with one normal arm and one gimp little useless arm and so I am forced to feel all strange inside while watching this guy.

Still, it's cool to see boundaries pushed.

Wow I thought you would like that video. Personally I think tricks on fixed geared bikes are odd when there is already free style moutain biking and bmxing which lend themselves to tricks. Tricks with a fixed gear bike further bastardize the heritage of track bikes.

Watch the the movie "The Flying Scotsman" its awesome and about track racing.

I went to a Bike Shop today to ask how much a back wheel would be ... and he said around 100+
I was like whoa!
then he showed me a fixed gear bike they have for sale ... 500 dollars
a bike isn't something i want to invest a lot of money into now so i don't think this will happen.

There is lots of fixed gear related talk in my blog lately, hehe it's become a big part of my life!

I now proudly have my first track bike and contrary to Jon's jabs I am actually hoping to eventually rip on it at the velodrome in Berlin.

For now I am having waaaay too much fun with my first legit bike setup.
