woot, good 2.5 hour 2 man session with mike, nothing all that crazy but the best new thing for me was
paradox whirl BSOS
many many 4 and 6 trick repeating combos of whirl, rev whirl, drifter, torque, and ripwalk and many permutations thereof
mike played well but ill let him tell you the stuff he hit.
oh yeah, i forgot the gem of the jam for me, inside set ingyro guay. BAM! (done with the same foot setting, dexing, and catching the bag, just like normal gyro except that the foot stets from in front of the leg instead of normal crossbody)

Like Paul said, it was a pretty good session. I do not remember much of the specifics of what I hit but I did a few long strings with good variety.
I am looking forward to the next session.
Peace.

I had a pretty good solo session tonight. Not too long but my shred felt really smooth and it took a lot less effort than usual to hit some pretty cool strings.
Since my last few sessions with Paul, each one being only two man and lasting over two and half hours, I have learned that playing relaxed and with confidence is much more rewarding than trying to muscle through everything. Shredding hard does not always mean playing with a lot of stress, and I mean that both physically and mentally. The bag isn't heavy, only your mind can make it so.
Anyway, tonight I hit...
- clip set barrage > same side muted whirl > repeat
- paradox illusion > barrage > whirl > repeat
- ripwalk > guiltless string (with 3 more ripwalks mid-string and not consecutively)
- osis > barfly (both sides)
- spinning butterfly (both sides)
Peace.

Cool highlights Mike, that pdx illusion>barrage>whirl drill sounds really intense. Its good to see you working on double dexes like barfly as well. Your game is so diverse, I really envy your style.
Anywho, I was just wondering if any of the RFA is gonna be around for the weekend after Thanksgiving? I'll be back in Rochester then and would like to kick if anyone's available.
Peace

Keep us posted on when you'll be available guys.
This sunday's booked for me. Saturday afternoon looks good for shred. The weekend after thanksgiving will work too.
Do we want to do anything for the New Year? Like last year, I do not have the time or resources to commit to anything huge. But I certainly cannot go to Chicago this time, so I would be into having a jam.
I can offer a shred spot on the Geneseo campus like last year... just gotta go through the juggling club to get it reserved. My home is not secure for a loud party; the guy above me hates youngsters and college types. So I could host a handful of people for a little jam but can't support a full blown tourney here.
The basement is right below me and it's excellent for shred, large enough for a couple circles with excellent lighting. I can blast music and shred there any time of the night.

I want this jam to happen, and full scale tourney style, I will very likely have my entire house to myself over break because I'm the onlt rochesterian who lives in my house so party there is ok. As fir shred spots, ill need to do some research in the area, but since some international students stay on campus over breaks, there is a definite possibility of securing officially a spot on campus, and if not, the late shred apot from last years grass will likely be open.

I am loving all of these positive posts.
This Saturday I am up for shred any time in the afternoon.
Next Saturday, after Thanksgiving, I should be available for a shred session.
YEAH 2007. Oh God, please let it happen. I do not know how much I can commit to being there, but I can do whatever internet stuff you guys need me to do. And I can help fund things as well.
Peace.

midnight this morning, i woke up having conked out at noon the day before (i had been up basically nonstop for 3 days with finals and critiques abounding)
3am i leave rochester to go to geneseo
4am-6am chris and i play in his basement
i roll my ankle on like my 3rd touch, and walk it off
the rest of the session was good, chris played well, and i played pretty well
awesomeness came from the invention of a new set
a few weeks back, a player posted that he had hit reverse whirling legover (intending to mean downtime) but matt thought of toe set reverse whirling set, this wasnt what the other guy was hitting, but it got my brain ticking, and id been thinking this was a set i could do
i was getting the set consistantly waist height within 2 tries both sides
toe op reverse whirling infinity has now been hit its name is wifebeater
when i hit the frontside version im gonna call it wifebreaker (legbeater, legbreaker)
and toe rev whirlwalk (toe rev whirling far rev whirl) was off my foot a few times, ill hit these second two next time i play
is there a set called radioactive? if there isn't, that would be a good name

yo,
wifebeater was originally the title for quantum egg, but was considered too risque. Also, the set's been done by lots and lots of people, including myself. Nice set, looking forward to seeing it in your game. Lord knows there's no room in mine for it, what with all the stepping illusions and tapping osii that I do these days. yep, that's my big stuff.
Let me know what I can do to make YEAH happen. Paul's house sounds like the shit.
At this point, at the very least, I'll commit to sponsoring with a prize bag.
Tom and Peng have asked me to ride with them to NYJ, so I might be choosing to do that, considering I haven't been there yet. maybe, if the dates line up, I can do both like chris and paul last year.
I can meet for an afternoon session on the saturday after thanksgiving. I'd love it if that works out. I can't stay and party because I have a gig in fredtown that evening, but not until 10, so I'll have time for some sushi if you guys are into it.
See you all soon!

you say the set has been hit, has anything been hit out of it?
as for wifebeater being too risque, im guessing that was quite a while ago (quantum egg was first hit when? 2000? earlier even?) we now have bedwetter, flaming tard, and your mom, so id say its fallen under the radar as being offensive.
its really early in planning right now, i need to do research before ill be able to delegate responsibilities. Matt, i know i can leave you in charge of shall we say 'tickling' other stitchers in the community to donate a prize bag, we can never have too many of those, if you can handle the footbag community sponsorships (bags, freedom, kolo, etc.) i would greatly appreciate it. i know you are more than up for it (like grass last year) and i think as per last time you should continually update in the journeys thread (will be up within the next week)

Last night at the end of another good solo session I wanted to finish the night with some infinities. First try I hit 24 consecutively. This is almost double my personal record. What's really funny is as I was approaching 10 I was also approaching the wall, so I set back into me and to the right and actually turned myself 90 degrees and continued the string in that direction. I started laughing out loud and said "What the f@#$?" because I couldn't believe I was still going. I think I laughed all the way to 24.
I am such a nut when I am alone.
Peace.
