MTV @ WORLDS

Post by Rabbit » 25 Feb 2008 04:51

Ok guys and gal, as the saying goes, third time's a charm. I'm feeling like the second time's a charm.

There are plans at MTV to shoot 20 new True Life Episodes.

I am going to pitch "True Life: I'm a Professional Footbag Player" again.

I only have a short time to put this pitch together, so I need responses very quickly.

If you are

1. A freestyle footbag player

2. You might attend worlds 2008

3. Plan on competing

Please send an email to BarrettNeimeth@gmail.com... now.

It should contain

- Full name
- Age
- Location
- Link to a video if you have one
- Phone number

Thanks!
Barrett

Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.

Because, of course, only Americans are allowed on that show. Any other nationality can't EVER be allowed on American T.V,

No Siree.

Why did I bother applying?!

Note: I know it's been cancelled.

Didn't mean to dis anyone outside of the US, I was just thinking that most Americans are ignorant when it comes to TV and usually like to see someone from their own country playing, rather than someone from a different country (one that they probably can't find on a map...)

I don't get what you guys mean.. I saw a true life episode the one titled "I'm a competative eater" and they had guys from the US interviewed and the Japanese champion on the show too, and infact the majority of the show was about him.

I think Canada can quite easily be found on the map.

At least I hope so.

I'd also like to think the whole Americans-useless-at-geography stereotype is a myth.

And that's where you'd be wrong.

Have you guys heard the saying "all publicity is good publicity" ?

seriously, nobody can get into footbag if they don't know it exists. I don't really know about mtv, but what do you have against footbag being on mtv? (not sarcastic, I genuinely know nothing about mtv)

So please enlighten me about mtv. I'd like to know why you think it would be a bad idea, then I can actually understand the situation.

it is just my opinion but i do not feel mtv will lend footbag any sort of legitimacy or credibility. how will million dollar ad-campaigns barking at people unfamiliar with footbag about who and what footbag is and cheap apparel/accesories made in sweat shops by under paid, exploited child labor help the soul of the sport of footbag? footbag is what it is by way of the people that love the sport. it is footbag as a result of our molding and shaping it out of that love for it. i feel if we put footbag in the hands of a perverse media monster they will quite possibly corrupt and exploit it for their own selfish means and gains. will mtv be concerned about presenting footbag as a sport for what it really is or will they create a dumbed-down user-friendly television show that is flashy and fancy for the sake of their ratings? i dont have an answer but i worry about what will happen if mtv did get involved.
this is all just my opinion though.
