Panels matter why?
Panels matter why?
Do panels make any difference when you are footbagging? Is it just for looks?

No offense, but newer players should try and refrain from giving too much advice. We were all there when we were new and thought we knew a bunch, but really you're more likely to give the wrong advice.
Honestly, the number of panels doesn't really matter. Most people's favorites are 4's, 12's, and 32's. Anything above that really makes the bag too round and harder to stall. 32's, while being round, still can be loose enough to 'pancake' a little bit, so they'll stall better than a 92 panel or whatever those crazy stores are trying to sell.
For a newer player, you may want to go with a Mr. Sandbag from Freedom Footbags. They're pretty cheap 4 panels.

without the panels, the filler would fall out.

I already sent you this as a PM, but it might help other people as well.
In general:
The more panels = the more round the bag stays in the air (meaning the straighter the sets)
The less panels = the more stallable a bag is.
32 panels is preferred for higher level players because it's a good mix of set accuracy and stallability.
4 panels is preferred for newer players because they need the most stallable bags they can get. Their tricks aren't difficult enough to require a super accurate set.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

Everyone in this thread is wrong. This is all a joke that they play on newer players. Frankly it makes me sick that they still continue this sadistic tradition. The MORE PANELS THE BETTER. Period. I have a 256 panel and it stalls like a DREAM. I really wish footbaggers weren't so cruel...
If you need anymore help, feel free to PM me. Ugh you guys make me sick.

I don't know if it really matters as much as people think. I'm sure a well stitched 12 panel bag of the same size, weight, material, and filler as the standard 32 panels today would play just fine.
Once when I was decent I played with a 12 panel bag and found it worked pretty good. Ultimately it's going to come down to the time you spend practicing as to how good you become and are able to execute tricks with whatever bag you are using.
Anyways, the hand stitched 32 panels are nice bags, and so are the 4 panel sandbags from Freedom Footbags. All the 32+ panel bags you see on various 'Footbag' websites are probably not optimal.
