Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.

Looks like I'll be there Sunday morning! So at least I'll get to kick with the portland crew and some of you before you head home.

Hey all,
We have set up a host hotel for this event, which is highly recommended. Up to four people can stay in a room as confirmed by the hotel, (though I would still advise being discrete about this). It looks like the amount for the room will be $89.00, again this can be split up. There is also an option for a queen suite, for 99.00, which can hold up to six. I would advise the hotel because it is literally 30 seconds walk across the street to the Nautilus World Sports facility, you can see the site from the hotel rooms. Also, the site this year is north of Portland, in Vancouver WA. (just across the border). This is about 20 minutes from the local group in Portland, thus this hotel is recommended. The event site is quite nice, it is a very large area with a nice vista backdrop. The hotel offers;
-Complimentary breakfast every morning
-Pool/hot tub
-Wireless internet access
-Complimentary shuttle to take you up to five miles from hotel.

In the next week or so we will announce some of the other stuff that is happening with the US Open this year. Should be exciting! Below is information about the hotel:

Thanks,
Red

Hi all,
Just a few quick updates, we have been increasingly busy with the lead up to the US Open. Here is an early/general schedule of the event.

Friday July 10, - Opening Ceremony/Registration/Mecca Jam
7pm to 9pm at the front entrance to Nautilus

Saturday July 11 - Event (Routines, Circle, other events, prelims)
11am to 5 pm - Nautilus Basketball Courts

11am to 12 noon - Entertainment (- Groove Nation Hip Hop; Martial
Arts)
Noon to 2pm - Freestyle routines - prelims
2pm to 3pm - entertainment ( -Ken Shults interview)- Groove
Nation & Martial Arts
3pm to 5pm - Freestyle Circle Prelims
6pm (tentative) Launch Party/outdoor dinner/Hall of Fame
Inductions

Sunday July 12

11am to 5 pm - Nautilus Basketball Courts

11am to 12 noon - Entertainment
Noon to 2pm - Freestyle routines - Finals
2pm to 3pm - entertainment
3pm to 5pm - Freestyle Circle Finals
6pm-8pm Awards/Closing Ceremonies

Monday July 13

2pm -Water Temple Jam (downtown Portland Oregon)

Schedule is of course subject to minor changes. In addition, we again going to have the BAP vote/inductions at the US Open, this is something that was agreed upon a little while back (and active at last year's US Open). It is designed to give better accessibility to people who have an interest in the group. The basic rule is if Worlds is in Europe, inductions can occur at the US Open, if there are enough BAPers to give a reasonable vote. Vis versa, if Worlds is in North America, inductions can occur at Euros with a good BAP representation. This also means if Worlds comes back to North America for the year, inductions will not occur at the US Open, same situation for Euros and Worlds in Europe. This again is an accessibility option for the players interested, unfortunately not everyone can travel great distances for Worlds (but if you can go, by all means do it : )

Another item is the Footbag Hall of Fame Inductions. Johnny and Ted (the creators of it) want it to return to Oregon, this would most likely run Saturday night. Either way it will be confirmed on our final schedule update. More updates to come with this!

Those are a few things, we again encourage everyone to come out the event, it should be quite a spectacle!
More to come...

The Hall of Fame is confirmed for the US Open. Inductions will occur Saturday night, possible BAP inductions will occur Sunday evening. For the HoF, once the nominees have been selected (which is happening right now), we will induct them at the US Open as it goes. Should be fun!

Hey Red,

Can I talk you into having a Senior Master Division? I'm planning on coming down to the big event and would like to kick butt, but that will only happen if you have my age division. Also, are you going to have some cool shirts like last year & what level do you have to enter to get one of those? (I tried to buy one last year with no luck, so I'm going to earn one this year.)

See you there!!

Ken

The Sole Purpose Group is happy to report both the Green Cup and Montana were great! Now that they have concluded, we are putting all of our attention to the 2009 US Open and the new endeavors that are launching there. We just updated the event to an IFPA sanctioned event, this event will be very large and well sponsored. This year we are catering to both the freestyle scene and the casual kicker/spectator by offering a new expanded showing of events. More information to come!
