What do you all use to trace your patterns on dark fabric?

Use a pen with silver glittery gel ink. You can find these at your local arts & craft store.

This is really wasteful---but if you're in a pinch, line the secondary side of the fabric with [masking] tape and then you can use any dark pen/marker.

Until I can get a gel pen, this seems like the best solution. Thank you everyone for your help.

take a strip of facile that is just over one panel wide, and just over 4 panels long. fold it twice, but your template on top, put a magnet on top of the template and on the other side of the facile to hold it all together, and cut around the template.

and voila

you'll have 4 templates in the time it takes to cut 1, with no time spent (wasted) tracing.

Nice! I used to do that for the bags I used to make out of suede. But, instead of magnets, I'd just use pins to hold the fabric in place. I never thought of using magnets. Seems like they'd be more efficient. Thanks for the tip!

I don't even use magnets, I just hold the template firmly on there. But, I've noticed my panels come out a little cleaner if I cut the strip into 4 squares instead of just folding it.

You waste a little more fabric with the scissor method, but it saves a ton of time.

White gel pens work really well too.
Found lots of places. Got mine at Michaels (also a good place for poly pellets).

What type of magents do you use?
