Hi all!
The Sole Purpose Footbag Group and the Fourkast Footbag Company are proud to announce the 2010 US Open Freestyle Footbag Championships. For people who don't know, this is one of the premiere footbag events in North America. We offer a wide range of events, including Performance Routines and Circle Competition. Again there will be events offered for Open players, as well as a Women's and Intermediate division. Also included is the annual Water Temple Jam, held in downtown Portland after the US Open concludes. Come see the US Champions get crowned on their road to Worlds!
On that note, I am also happy to announce a new project that connects the US Open and the 2010 World Footbag Championships. After considerable deliberation with Mr. Chris Ott (the Worlds director), we have decided to offer a 'circuit' of footbag events on the west coast. We have intentionally placed the two events within a week of each other (with the US Open as the lead in). For international players looking to make it over to the west coast, we invite you to come a week early for the US Open, and visit the birthplace of footbag. Portland Oregon and Oakland California are only an hour and a half plane flight between each other, or a very beautiful trek down the west coast United States. During the 4-5 days between the US Open and Worlds, we are inviting players to stay in Portland and train for Worlds. This may turn into a footbag camp, to be announced a little later. Some of the top players may be staying in Portland for that week anyway, as we are working on a new Fourkast project. This invitation also goes out to all North American players, come enjoy the 'Summer of Footbag' with two great events on the west coast!

A quick thing, we will have a few places to stay in Portland for people coming to visit. One of the selling points of the PDX area for that week is that it is very inexpensive, you can kick it here pretty cheap. Even without crashing at someone's pad, our hostels are very cool and not that expensive. Again though, our goal is to make it as inexpensive for the footbag player as possible, luckily Portland is a good town for just this sort of thing!

Thanks Zeb,
We are deciding on the venue right now. We have a couple of good options on the table (that facility included), thus have to see which one is the best for this year. Either way it will be fun for sure!

I want to say that any and every person, if they are planning on attending Worlds this year, should make an effort to come to the US Open!
Reasons it makes sense:
1) Portland is beautiful in the summer
2) Portland has many great sites to see, and places to hike
3) Red can host a good number of people
4) It's a short plane ride (or even a short car ride, which may involve redwood trees...) down to San Fransisco for Worlds.
5) If you're going to the US West Coast, why only go to one place for a week? At least get to see more of the West Coast then San Fran.
6) It will increase your adventure level by adding excitement and extra places for fun, footbag, and partying!
7) You can see all of your friends for a longer period of time (or have even more time to make new ones!)
Reasons it doesn't make sense:
...
...
...
Money? Maybe?
So, in other words-
COME
TO
THE

I am pretty sure I will be going to both. Just an idea, could we maybe rent a bus to get everyone to the worlds together? _________________

We should rent trailer homes and bombard the cities of Portland and San Fran with our excitement, mercy and footbaggin' hype onto the populace! lol _________________

Those are great ideas. Red has to bring some Fourkast product with him down to SF for Worlds, and he was planning on driving, so I thought we should caravan down like a herd of footbag frenzied fanatics and show up with, like, 6 cars full of people.
I think a bus is more practical for transportation, but how expensive is it to rent a bus for a week? Well, I tried looking that up online (just so Matt Cross won't use the google search thing on me) and I couldn't really find a direct answer, or a quote without having to input a bunch of my personal information and having to have the companies call me to sell it to me.
What we should do is find a guestimate of how much gas is going to cost round trip and compare it to how much a bus/van would be for the week and see how many people are interested. _________________

Here is a site I found for school buses and other buses and using Google lol.
http://www.busbank.com/charterservice.aspx
I dont know if this is possible but could we just get the bus for the one day and the bus driver drives it back? How many people will have to go back to Portland after the worlds? And if its not much would they be able to fit in a car? Also is the public transit any good ? _________________

My two cents on busses:
We should get a yellow school bus. Why? Cause its badass. And I haven't been in one since I had a lunch box that my mom packed me in the morning. Plus, whats cooler than a school bus full of footbaggers? It'd be like the best school trip anyone ever went on.
OR - We could invest in a hippy van and decorate it with pictures of footbags and short shorts.
Either way, I'm headin' down fo' sho to the US Open and the to Worlds. Word. Also, If anyone wants to visit Vancouver before the US Open, contact me, cause then I could put ya up somewhere and then we can head down the coast in tandem. (I'll bring cookies). Potentially on a tandem bike. _________________

The cookies are tempting. We should all sing "The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round!" on the trip down to Worlds. _________________

You guys need a school bus driver to go down to California? Well, f-ing eh! That job has my name written all over it!
Here is a picture of my bus!
I have no idea how you will obtain a bus, this one belongs to the school district and they do not lend them out for footbag jams (I already asked) but if you find one and you need a driver, I am totally qualified!
And I know, I know, "For Official Mullet Use Only" is more like it. _________________

DUDE! I forgot that you had that special license. We can rent school buses, and I'm sure there will be some available during the summer. The question is how many people are going down there, how many are coming back, and where the F would we park??
BTW, that mullet is off the hook! _________________
