Erika's random strand of words

Post by erikahidalgo » 24 Jan 2010 13:29

Hello, new friends!
I'm Erika...
I'm currently in the process of learning the ways of footbag. Its been about a week since my phenomenal boyfriend, Cale McCoy, began on this journey. (Speaking of Sir McCoy... Its our three months today!.. I digress) I'm kickin' a purple and aqua hybrid, and I'm waiting on a pair of BLUE lavers in the mail, (Hoping and praying they fit) so I won't have to carry on kicking with my canvas slip-ons.

So I'm not exactly sure what to else to say, so I'll just leave it at that.
:D

Oooookayyy...
I feel like a total newb, but then again... I am.
So I've only had three... or two and a half sessions.
Or they could even be considered two "classes" and a session.
Anyway...
Most kicks: six contacts... five good ones and one in an attempt to recover.
Most toe stalls: six.

I also forgot to mention in the previous entry that Cale is that master who stitched my footbag.
I'll have a picture up soon to boast and what not.

So Cale and my three monthiversary was very low key. Especially since we are poor college students and need to watch our funds. But I curled my hair and did my make up, then we spent all day together... Which isn't a whole lot different than any other day. Just more effort on the way I look.
As I type this, Cale is oogling over some lovely footbag videos. :)

So I've got good news and bad news:
The good news is I got a pair of Blue Lavers in the mail today!
So now the bad news. They were ever so slightly too big... When I'm wearing thick socks.

So luckily Cale and I have been on a massive search for tiny seductress sized lavers. We found a couple options, so hopefully we can go boner a pair of those soon.

There you go, Cale. I used the words seductress and boner.

Now, I was trying to kick and stall in the lavers. Unfortunately, I couldn't really feel the bag, so my kicks were too soft or too powerful and my stalls were basically nonexistent.
Back to the internet we go, in hopes that the baby lavers are still around!
Curse my tiny feet!

Today, I had an AWESOME session with Cale.
I hit my first two tricks.
-around the world, both sides
-ss mirage, both sides
I'm super stoked about getting these tricks, especially since the shoes I was wearing are too big! I hope I don't lose the tricks.
Luckily, tomorrow Cale and I will be joined by Eoghan for another session.
So excited!

p.s.
Dear Asmus,
Thanks!

You are welcome.

Good job on the first tricks. Took me way longer.
And nice both sides, you must have a great teacher. :)

I played my first year with way too big shoes and it worked out okay.
If you have trouble finding small enough shoes you should contact Pengpeng Du. She had some of the same problems and found some different solutions.

So last night... I forgot to stretch. Bad plan on my part. I feel like I've aged 40 years this morning. Anyway, Painkillers and major stretching before tonight's session.

I forgot to mention my increase in toe stalls.
I have achieved 9 in a row. HUZZAH!

Dear Asmus,
Thanks! I was so excited I was bouncing off walls.. quite literally.
:D

We found a pair on Ebay that should fit, but I'm working on the money situation at the moment. As is Cale. They are a possible birthday gift... but we need to figure out how to get at it...
But if those don't work out, I'll definitely get in contact with her!

So tonight's session wasn't was productive as I had hoped.
I did get 7 inside kicks in a row, which is one more than before.
I also worked on getting toe stalls on both foot and I got six each. For some reason six seems to be my beginning maximum.

Good News! I hit atw, bs again! That's my trick for the night. I was working on basics mostly, while Cale and Eoghan did their crazy badass moves. I wish I had started earlier so I could be even near their level.
Cale McCoy is the greatest mentor. I definitely saw a bunch of the girls on the track team checking him out in the gym. I giggled.

Also, those Lavers on ebay shall be mine! Unless they deny my offer and some one else with freakishly tiny feet hits the "buy now" button. That would totally put a damper on my birthday, for I would not be getting proper footbag shoes.
BUT that's not allowed to happen. It just can't... right?

My body hurts, so I took a couple of pain killers and going to sleep.

Happy f.baggin'

Another session today with Cale.
I'm still using the shoes that are too big, but I can't wait to get my all white Lavers that are getting shipped to my home in the Bay Area.
Speaking of the East Bay, are there any footbaggers in the east bay?
I know there are some in San Francisco.

Oh yes, the session!
So I can see my progress.
Ten alternating toe stalls! One more than before!
I hit ss mirage both sides again! Apparently, I was doing pixie sets in my attempt to recreate the glory moment of hitting ss mirage. I found it a little easier. Cale found it amusing, but corrected me.
I hit around the world, both sides as well. I almost bsos'ed it... But alas, couldn't complete the task.
On the plus side, my atws are getting smoother!
Unfortunately, I left my sweat pants and cell phone in Cale's building, so I had to walk around the dining hall in my booty shorts and colorful polka-dotted rain boots. I got some strange looks...

Good news! I'll be in Portland over spring break! Which is March 14-28, maybe earlier depending on my finals schedule, but I'll only be there for a few days. Maybe I could meet some new people?

Cale has definitely given me footbag fever. I can't get enough! Whenever I feel like my legs can handle it, I just want to grab my Lavers and hybrid and kick some bag.

Alrighty, I better wrap this up... Cale and I are going to a dance then watching James and the Giant Peach, then Coraline... I wonder how easy it is to footbag in a dress...

So tonight Cale decided to use footbag moves as dance moves.
It worked out well mostly. He did look rather goonish.

Erika's got a new pair of shoes

Post by erikahidalgo » 08 Feb 2010 23:48

The search is (basically) over! On Friday, I received my all white mesh lavers. I'm soooooo stoked! I can feel the difference already. They are still the ever so slightest bit too big, but I can still wear a single pair of socks. YES!
So here they are!

Thank you, Cale! You're the best. I love you!

And pretty much, I'm just working on the basics still. Toe stalls and what not, just to make sure I have those down before I go over my head with the tricks.

I've never seen all white lavers before! Play in them till they're gray and dirty :)

I like the shoe laces choice, just like what I used for my white quantum 3.

Take a look, a few posts in. Not the bunny rabbit, but a few posts down from that.

Some stiff competition for cutest image.

Also, I must comment on my fascination with pure white lavers, I didn't know they existed in Mesh. I do hope you enjoy them.

Cale and I had another session today in Lithia Park. It was lovely! The weather is beautiful!
So I learned/hit some new stuff today!
-multiple around the worlds, both sides (not bsos quite yet, but so close!)
-ss mirage, both sides a couple times
-14 consecutive toe stalls
-inside stall, back to back
-toe stall to inside stall, both sides

Yayyyy! I danced a little bit... I also danced when Cale hit new stuff.
My Lavers even got a bit of dirt! Oh, snapple caps. It has begun.
Great day.

I love this weather!! Cale and I had another session outdoors.
So I'm improving! Even from just two days ago.
-eighteen toe stalls
-around the world, BSOS!
-ss mirage, BSOS!

It was only about an hour, but I feel like a got a bunch accomplished.
I feel really good!
I'm super jealous Cale gets to go to Vegas Jam. I'm going to miss him, but he's going to have a blast with y'all. Take care of him for me!
