Critiscism is totally fine - the video is supposed to be a bit controversial..
and Yes!
I really liked how synched up the form was between Milan and Honza. I also liked the flaming football kicked into the name on fire. I had a hard time picking up the story line... or maybe I didn't? "Footbag and Football champions buy expensive kicking toys on fire from hot girls in a hummer with a mountain lion"?
Cool stuff.
Cool stuff.

Girls, footbag, animals, explosions, football... yeah!
At first i thought it was a bobcat, because mountain lions don't have spots. Lynx have black tips on their ears so it couldn't be that either. Turns out that mountain lion cubs have spots which slowly disappear over time, kind of like deer

A couple of things - I haven't seen much on these forums that I've found interesting enough to post about, so I guess that's something.
Characterising the forum as communist due to the minimal amount of editing is a little over the top - but then based on the video such a response is to be expected.
While I liked the video but didn't really find it compelling and probably won't go out of my way to watch it again - it seemed slightly too incoherent - I got the over-the-top action-parody vibe but I just felt the girls and the cash weren't integrated coherently enough. Even ridiculous parody has an element of coherence to it - it may not be narrative coherence, it may be stylistic, it may jsut be the tone, but there's some coherent framework that I felt wasn't quite complete in this vid.
It's not a big deal but it's the difference between something being just good and something that's more compelling and would make me want to watch it again.
As a comparison that might help explain what I mean - I prefer Jere's Lappi vid from a few years back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZK8wzkpWdM.
Not because it's more earnest, but because it's more coherent - the footbag is presented in a way that seems more fully integrated with the narrative to me. There are no loose threads that distract from the narrative or the shred.
But then I'm not the target audience - I'll watch a poorly shot and produced vid with awesome shred again and again whereas a lay person might prefer this to your average raw shred video - I'm not sure they'd prefer it because of the action-parody element or simply because of the production values and the accessibility of the moves presented - either way interesting vid.

Um... because your vids are awesome?mentor wrote:After a statement like that I don't see why I should upload more vids at all.....
Personally, I think the variety of footbag videos that are starting to be made is really cool. Back in the day, it really was just one guy with a crappy camera filming cool circles. A lot of times it was just a fixed angle, too. When there was nothing else, we just ate that stuff up because we could see stuff on film we'd never seen before (even if it was grainy and you had to rewind your VHS tape 50 times before you could actually tell what was happening).
Now we have the advent of digital cameras, high speed video, and people interested in not just filming footbag, but making footbag films interesting. I can watch videos that tell a story, videos that capture super hard tricks from incredible angles in slow motions, over-the-top videos that feature Pokemon style battles or mountain lions on leashes... It's unbelievable.
And awesome. So, back on topic, this particular video is clearly not everyone's cup of tea, but it definitely adds to the available footbag content available for viewing. Who knows -- this may be the video that sparks someone new to give footbag a try or gets someone else interested in taking their game to the next level.
Whatever happens, it's nice that there's also a forum available for people to offer critique and input to help make sure that videos just keep getting better.

dude, your videos are one of the reasons that made me start playing footbag. Seriously.
About Honzas video, well i'm happy to see someone puting so much time and effort in a footbag video, altough is not really what i think a footbag video should be... but thats just my opinion.
anyway, good job dude keep making videos
pst: sry for the bad english

I think you may be misinterpreting my statement - the fact that I haven't felt compelled to post isn't to say your videos or the many other discussion I haven't involved myself in and may or may not have even seen are not valuable contributions to the community or to this forum.After a statement like that I don't see why I should upload more vids at all.....
It's simply to say that they haven't inspired my interest in a way that makes me want to post. I have limited time to spend on these forums and so I'll only post if things interst me in a certain - usually unexpected - way.

Fair enough... I sort of knew you meant it as a compliment to this thread/vid.
I still think that there is a lack of people leaving a quick/short comment for vids they find time to watch. By what other means should we motivate and reward all the people that dedicate time to provide free vids for others to enjoy?

And i feel that there is a lack of activity in general...
Just leaving a comment about a video, a post in a blog, or whatever make the forum much more alive, make people want to keep releasing videos, make ppl keep posting in their blog...
And it takes likes 5 minutes a week to elave few comments. But might help to keep some ppl motivated.
I already talked about that with many ppl

the good:
- Czech players shredding (always a good thing to see);
- camera quality (not sure if 60fps, but great quality and lightning);
- music (did the job well, although I missed more post-production sound effects);
- length (just right for a promo video);
- casual friendly (good for promoting footbag);
- firey footbag (can't go wrong with that);
the bad:
- the plot (it feels like randomly puting together movie cliches, like LEGOs);
- girls have no personality (they just stand there and look good);
- no closure, no punch line, what happened to the money and girls?;
the ugly:
- using a lion cub AND fur coats in the same shot? You must be joking;
- that flaming word should have spelled FOOTBAG and not WEBER;
Overall a good and ambitious effort that comes off as a bit pretentious and not that well thought-out.
In any case, glad to see that footbag has this kind of support behind it. This can only mean good things for our future
