All the records on this list require video proof. That's awesome though!

In Claven's fall video last year, didn't he hit some ridiculous number of whirligigs? Like 6 or 8? Too lazy to dig up video now.

Yah i have to watch some Clavens video for sure.

I know in the euros video he hits something like 20 + rip warrior... I'll find that out later.

I'll ask Jay and Jorden too. They have lots of video and probably some records in there!

The whirligig record by David Clavens can be seen at 7:10 of the video below:

I went ahead and added the whirligig entry myself. I'm unsure of his shoe model, so I left it blank. The tricks themselves look clean so I'm going to verify it. Let me know if I did anything wrong.

That link goes to Krzysztof's open ducking switch video -- here's the correct link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0-0HtGxH9Y

Edit: I am currently trying to add some of the records from Mathieu's last post, but the record list apparently doesn't like certain characters. It keeps turning the middle of "Sobótka" into gibberish. Until Jeremy decides what to do about that I'm just going to use basic characters so it looks close.

Here I have video of Mathias Blau hitting 28 atomsmasher

A little back story to the video. Just before this run, Anton asked Mathias if he could show him some Atomsmashers (since Mathias has such good atomics). Not sure, but I think he did alright

And I almost sure Dave is wearing Units for the gig record. But I wasn't there so I am not sure.

I've gone through all of the records from Mathieu's previous post. Most of them were obviously good new additions or already beaten. Here are the few that require some further fact checking of some sort:
MathieuGM wrote:Diving opp clipper, Zulu clipper, Don't know how to write that with Job's notation, 37, Arkadiusz ''Norek'' Dudziński, 17/03/10 (video upload date), Lavers, Poland, Have to debate about this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QQGN5d8 ... ature=plcp
I'm not adding this one. I would consider contact 21 too 'the' to count.
MathieuGM wrote:Toe barrage, Don't know how to write that in with Job's notation, 20, Arkadiusz ''Norek'' Dudziński, 17/03/10 (video upload date), Lavers, Poland, To me theyre are fine, but someone else could confirm plz.

It's hard to tell on a few of them at the beginning, but I am going to add this anyway. You get a better angle at about halfway through his run, and he doesn't appear to do them any differently during the second half. This is in contrast to his consecutive zulu clippers video where they get visibly sloppy in the middle of his run.
MathieuGM wrote:Diving clipper, Don't know how to write that with job's notation, 106 or 107, Arkadiusz ''Norek'' Dudziński, 17/03/10 (video upload date), Lavers, Poland, I'm not sure the 67th one and the 107th are clean. Need someoneelse to verify. Toe me 67 is, 107 not sure.

The last one is thin, but I'd say it counts. Added.

I don't think I'm going to add this one. I know Mathieu verified this one, but a few of these (especially near the beginning) look to me like they're literally falling in front of the middle of his forehead. Anyone?

I wasn't sure if spinning toe was common enough to add to the list, but I'm going to go ahead and do it for now. I can think of a couple players who use it fairly regularly, and several others that I've seen do it at least once or twice.

I'm also going to note that this video was helpful in determining that Krzysztof is indeed using black G-Units in his videos.
Zjeezy wrote:Here I have video of Mathias Blau hitting 28 atomsmasher
Added. Can you or Anton remember the exact date of that clip? Was he just there Saturday and Sunday of that weekend?

---

Jeremy -- please review the stuff above to make sure you agree with my judgment. Also make sure the naming conventions I used on the list itself work for you. As an aside about three hours ago I was someone whose eyes glazed over at the mere sight of Job's notation. Now I feel pretty literate in this regard. Thanks to Ken who helped me with a couple at the beginning.

I would also like to ask what the main purpose of the shoes category is. I can understand the point of differentiating between bare feet and wearing shoes, but frankly trying to figure out what kind of shoes people are wearing in shitty, choppy videos feels like a waste of time. I also don't know how you stand on the new naming conventions, but I would consider a column with the new naming schemes more useful than what version of Quantums Vasek was using when he set a particular record.

I noticed a few inconsistencies in the list as well. Some moves aren't quite as broken down in their technical name as they could be -- isn't "torque" the nickname of "miraging osis"? Is there a reason for this other than the fact it might not be worth spending a long time to make trivial details to a list few people will look at? I did read through this thread once before and sort of remember the topic of "crispy" moves coming up, but don't remember the details. Maybe that has something to do with it. I also noticed that for example some moves use "furious" and some use "barraging". In any case I'm willing to go through and sort of standardize this stuff if you have a preference on how things should be named.

There is a lot more I could say about how cool I think this project is, and why it excites me as an intermediate player, but in reality I just spent the entirety of my Saturday night doing a bunch of text editing instead of getting drunk. I'm going to log off and ponder what is wrong with me now. Thanks for keeping this going over the years.

Thanks heaps for that Reilley - it's great to see somebody else doing this!!

I've been away all weekend, and about to go away again for a month where I will have limited internet access, so I'm really hoping others can keep this up to date when I'm gone. I should be able to review the stuff, but I'm trying to make this a community run/owned page, rather than my page, so don't feel like my say is the final say. A few quick responses;

1. I'm happy giving people the benefit of the doubt on cleanliness if you aren't sure, unless the quality is particularly bad. I'd suspect with something like toe-barrage that the first tricks would be clean and they would get less clean as time goes on - so if you're confident the later ones are clean and unsure about the first ones due to the angle, I think that's fine.

2. I put the shoes in just for general interest, but it's no big deal, and could be removed.

3. I think I suggested when I set this up that somebody could put in the new descriptive names or whatever they're called. I don't think that system is at all helpful, and merely renames a few tricks, so I haven't memorised all the terms, but if somebody else wants to do that, there's no reason why they shouldn't - either as a replacement to the shoes, or as well as them.

4. Good spotting with inconsistencies. Feel free to change them as you see fit. I did have some system to what I was doing - I considered downtime tricks a single component - ie. torque, drifter dlo etc. rather than being two components put together. I used more detailed technical names for tricks that are made up of an uptime and downtime component. I think the main thing is that a reasonably educated footbagger would understand what the trick is before watching the video, and if a nickname does exist, that it's also used.

Anyway thanks again. There's nothing wrong with you :)

Well there are 2 things we need to see :
1-It's dangerous to call a zulu not clean depending of the camera angle... Theyre were clean enough, event if it's just the forehad that pass under the bag, there is still a part of the head that do so...
2-If it's #21 that isn't clean, that we can call the record to be 20 with the video. That would make sens no?
rjadamson wrote:I don't think I'm going to add this one. I know Mathieu verified this one, but a few of these (especially near the beginning) look to me like they're literally falling in front of the middle of his forehead. Anyone?
I'm fine with that. Maybe having a 3rd person looking at it. But yah i think you are right.

I haven't been able to carefully watch the videos, but I'd agree that if you do a run of clean tricks, followed by a the trick, that the record should count up to there - ie. if trick 21 is the, that the record is 20. Perhaps there should be a notes column to record why there is a discrepancy between the record number and the number in the video. It's difficult too because I know people have different standards of cleanliness. I guess it might be best to lean towards including disputed records, since there is a video, which makes things transparent, but hopefully discussion can continue until a consensus (or close to it) is reached.

Zulu is difficult to hit cleanly - I think it's important the bag at least goes over the head and neck, and comes down to the side of the head - rather than in front of the head. There's an argument that set height on all ducking tricks should be lower than head at at the time of the setting - so that you have to actually "duck" or move your head in some way to avoid the bag - and although I tend to agree with that philosophy, I'd be happy to include records with higher sets, since I think most people are less strict.

I've updated the ducking osis record to reflect Ken's 11 contacts. I've also gone ahead and added Nick Polini's flapper record.
MathieuGM wrote:2-If it's #21 that isn't clean, that we can call the record to be 20 with the video. That would make sens no?

I totally agree.

I've added Norek's zulu clipper record at an inelegant "20 (37 disputed)" for now. If we decide to create another notes column like Jeremy suggested this can be elaborated upon.
Jeremy wrote:I did have some system to what I was doing - I considered downtime tricks a single component - ie. torque, drifter dlo etc. rather than being two components put together.
This also makes sense. I'm going to search for "mixer" and "double legover" before I search for "miraging legover" anyway.

I've also added Jay Boychuk's 18 atomic legovers from the end of this video:

A few things I'd like to note regarding the effort to standardize the list syntax:
 • Barraging vs. furious? I vote furious, but maybe people elsewhere use barraging prevalently.
 • Can the date syntax change to yyyy-mm-dd (at least for the ones where we have an exact date)? There's less room for ambiguity (the United States typically uses mm-dd-yyyy so it looks weird to me), and honestly having the year first just looks the best anyway.
 • I vote we simply change the shoes column to a yes/no category... or delete it if we don't want someone who hit hypothetical trick x in socks a bunch to beat out someone who hit it less in shoes. I'm not going to pursue identifying which Quantums people are wearing from here on out, and I think if neglected in the future it'll just look bad having holes.
 • I'm being optimistic and assuming I'll be able to grab more records soon. Soon we'll have to start notating same side and opposite side a lot more (like a sidewalk record to differentiate from the ripwalk one). I think instead of "stepping same side butterfly" it should look more like "stepping butterfly (ss)". Same/opposite or ss/op? What looks best? In any case they'd appear next to each other on the list. I am a new school player, and personally consider terrage a double mirage (ss) more than a double pixie so being able to combine like names sits even better with me.
 • I would also like to look into creating a column with the new component terminology once I have more time.
This is a fun project! I realize some of these things are minor and may never actually be issues, but I can see myself really trying to promote this if it has good structural integrity!

Why are there 2 records for whirr? My understanding was that tying a record doesn't earn a spot on the list. If it does, I have video of me hitting 30 drifters and 3 mullets, if we're posting ties as well.

1. Barraging vs furious. The nomenclature I used for stepping would be barraging - as I used a generic set name followed by an indication of side. Technically I think barraging is followed by a same side component while furious is followed by a far side component. Barraging can also be called "high stepping". But I find that system can be a little confusing, and I think having one term for all clip set op double in dex sets is easier to understand. However if you prefer the term to be "furious", I'm happy for them to all be that. (Note. that the same applies with blurry sets vs stepping sets - blurry is followed by a far side component (in fact most correctly a paradox in to out dex), while stepping is followed by a near side component (or any any component that isn't a paradox in to out dex)).

2. Fine with me. dd-mm-yyyy is the most sensible format ;), but I think what you suggest is the international standard, so that's probably best anyway :)

3. I'm leaning towards getting rid of shoes and having a "notes" column, which could include comments on unusual shoes/barefeet.

4. In the records I've added same side is indicated (pixie ss legover etc.) The usual convention is to only mention side if not's the normal side, and one side wouldn't become paradox - eg. normal osis is just called osis, while far osis is called far osis - however put a whirl before the osis and you get blender or paradox blender. I would indicate the side immediately before the component of the side - eg. stepping same side butterfly. That makes it clear which component you're talking about. I'm not too bothered about conventions though, I just want to ensure that we state things in a clear manner. Coupled with Job's and a video, it should be understandable.

5. I'm not sure if a policy has been stated on duplicates or not. I added the whirr record because I was on a roll adding things, and didn't want to stop to read though the topic to find out if it's ok or not. Even if something's been stated in the past, personally I'm happy to include equal records, although I'd be a little more cautious if the record was a very small number. I think for records like the 100m sprint, equal records would be recorded.

That's really cool, but at literally the worst possible camera angle for a list designed to verify records. I'm still inclined to update it because it's Mr. Triple Swirl himself. I posted a comment on the YouTube page...
