Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
I haven't had a chance to update any records since before Mathieu's post about Honza. I'm super busy right now, but will do it soon.
I did have to revert a recent edit to the drifter record this morning because there was no associated video (the new link went to Norek's standing down double down record clip).
Can anyone beat 4 stepping ducking whirls? I think there is unreleased footage of David Clavens hitting 4 at Green Cup 2012.

Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
I'm pretty sure a record of it will remain but keep a note of vandals to the page so we can ban them from .org
Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
I am positive the edit wasn't malicious. Someone was probably stoned.Jeremy wrote:I'm pretty sure a record of it will remain but keep a note of vandals to the page so we can ban them from .org
Sorry to everyone who has been posting records. Tomorrow is a U.S. holiday... I should have some time then.
Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
No worries. Good to keep an eye on that kind of thing anyway. I don't think action would be necessary unless somebody kept vandalising the page - once off things are probably no big deal.
I'm back now, although a little busy today (first day back at work). Are things up to date or is there a backlog? I should be able to find some time on Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately I have to unpack all my gear and play touch footy tonight, and am away all weekend, flying Friday, so it's probably not until next week that I can do much (Thursday night is also my Diablo 3 night with Lotus and Nathan Cope ). I thought it would be good to make a quick post anyway, just to keep things rolling and remind myself to find time

Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
I just went through and finally updated the last couple weeks of records. The only exception is Vasek's recent ripstein record because the unfortunate filming angle defeats the purpose of video verification. Sorry to everyone who had posted and had to wait!
I entered the new motion record as is to follow the logic of downtime tricks being one move. "Double downing osis" also sounds stupid.
Right now my list of things to do includes:

Right now my list of things to do includes:
- Contact high-level players who would be interested in breaking records.
- Take a look at all current unverified records.
- Take less than two weeks to update records.
- Update nomenclature to make the records easier to navigate... this includes changing how dates are written out, possibly adding a new column for the new trick naming scheme, and perhaps deleting the shoes column.
Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
Great work, Cheers
I guess the thing about pixie illusion (ss) vs pixie same side illusion is that it would be good if the name makes it clear what the trick is. I guess in that case it's obvious, but were the trick something like spinning miraging symposium mirage (op) (which you could call spinning voodoo or many other things), it becomes less clear. I like the convention, of putting the qualifiers (I sometimes think of them as verbs ) before the component (nouns?). So you say, for example; "paradox symposium mirage", as opposed to "mirage (paradox symposium)". Op Side and Same Side are different to Paradox or Symposium, but I think it's a good consistency, and I tend to think of footbag moves in terms of components and qualifiers, not adds.
That said, certainly in the case of moves where it is clear what you're talking about, I don't mind if you name the tricks using the terms that you feel are best. I can't stress enough that I don't want to "own" this project, and I don't want my opinion to count for more (or less) than anybody else's. The only really important thing is that it's understandable what the trick is, and we have three ways of making that clear - technical name, job's description, and video. The combination of all three should ensure that people can figure out what a trick is, even if it's described in a way that isn't how I personally would write it!

Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
Added Ken's records from just under two weeks ago... I guess I'm technically on par with my previous goal.
I've been waiting for like two months to be able to publish a new alpine blurry whirl record (4) by David Clavens, having seen it at Justin Dale's house many times.
It's at 3:41.

I'm going to try and set a record soon. Maybe I can hit 3 far symple dynos...

Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
Sweet.
I think it would be good to have records for lots of the basic low add moves; toe delay, inside delay, clipper, mirage, legover, pixie, illusion, pickup, atw in and out. If nothing happens in the next few days I might set some over Christmas. I'm not sure how long I can film on my phone for though.

I'm glad this project is working ! That's a very nice one !

Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
I've added all of Ken's most recent records.
I went through and made the date syntax consistent where possible -- they now read yyyy-mm-dd.
I can't guarantee I'm going to want to sift through the Polish YouTube channel and watch hundreds of 2-adds... I will gladly add them to the database if someone verifies and posts the relevant videos here.
One final (and trivial) item: some record holders currently have nicknames as part of their name (Arkadiusz "Norek" Dudziński). Should Honza read Jan "Honza" Weber, and Vašek be listed as Václav "Vašek" Klouda?

Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
Great work
I added "Norek" because I didn't know who "Arkadiusz Dudzinski" was, and I thought other people might not know either. I don't think it's necessary to always put in nicknames, but in cases where people might be confused it's probably best.
I'll try to go through some of the polish records now

Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
I think I'll just post this for everyone to decide. Andrey Romanov ties Jim Penske's scorpion's tail record (7) at approximately 2:47 in this new video:

We obviously can't count the dropped (8th) scorpion's tail, but I also think the preceding two are both arguably unclean which would mean this is not an equal record... anyone else care to comment? I've added it as unverified for now.

Re: Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
Ken. .....great job....I may get in on this.....
In reference to the scorpions tail record..... (personal opinion) there is no way that that video should count.....most if not all spins are not clean, I think there was only one (if that ) scorpions tail that would even count . So its as if he hit one.....I also dont think that the record videos should demonstrate bad form on any trick
