Starter Shoes
Hey everybody. I decided it's finally time to bite the bullet and buy some legit footbagging shoes. The problem is, I can't find Lavers in my size anywhere. Now, from what I've read, the general consensus is that Nucleus' aren't an option. I've managed to find some G-Units in my size, as well as Quantums. For someone just starting Freestyle, which of those two choices would you say is best? Thanks guys!
Re: Starter Shoes
Oh my! If you've found both, I would get both! I seriously would. If both is not an option, get either one asap. READ The shoe modifications and follow them precisely.

Aaron, I strongly recommend you go with the Quantums. G-Units can often lead to poor form when you start in them. You wouldn't want that. Quantums are the way to go, especially if you found a pair in your size. Grab them quickly because they don't make them any longer! D: Hope this helps.

Awesome! Do you know if Planetfootbag ships internationally?

PF does ship internationally. Also, the second site.. not sure. But if you can find contact info on their store, then it's not a bad idea. If you can't get in contact with them, it's a scam.
Re: Starter Shoes
I would also say both - G units promote poor form but quantums tend to fall apart quickly.

Re: Starter Shoes
True. Cassy brought up a good point. Quantums wear away faster than Lavers. But since you're new to the sport, they'll last you a while. My first pair of shred shoes were Quantums and they lasted me around a year and a half. I only retired them because I left them in my car in the summer and the soles popped off :/ And by the time you're ready to retire them, Lavers should be re-released, so I think it's safer to go with Quantums. However, if you can get both, it wouldn't be a bad idea I guess. Worst comes to worst, you can just sell the Units if you end up not liking them.

How exactly do the G-Units promote bad technique? To me they look like they have a similar design to Lavers but with more leather :p And the PF international sight is down right now...

Re: Starter Shoes
G-Units have a gnarly lip on the instep that holds the bag on your foot pretty tightly. If you have above-average ankle crank, like me, it honestly feels like you're cheating. And if you start off with G-Units, you hit clippers really easily and get used to that feeling, which causes the dreaded "Lazy Clipper" in new players, which WILL lead to bad form and lots of errors in your form/game down the road.
In my personal opinion, everyone should start out in Lavers of Quantums and learn Clippers in them until they can do them sufficiently, then, they can decide if they want to change to Units.
I've tried to switch to Units from Lavers 2 separate times and each time, I hated my game and it took my style away. They made footbag frustrating and not fun for me. Then I really learned to play in Lavers and I swear by them.

What size are you? (just in case you don't win the bid, I might be able to scare up a pair for you) Good luck on the bid! Let us know if you get them or not!

I usually wear size 11.5-12. I've gone 10.5 to 13 depending on how the shoe fits.

Do Lavers fit true to size, or how large/small do you say they fit?

As far as I know, yes, it's the original.
