A new home for modified?

Post by Allan » 20 Jun 2019 20:30

Hi.
I've been running modified on my web server since 2010.
I've controlled domain name modified.in since then too.
I would like to stop doing both of these things within the next year, but hopefully sooner.
I would be happy to help someone move modified to a new host.
This someone should also take control over the domain.
Please email me at allankh@icloud.com if you are willing/able to take this on.
Thanks!

I'd like to help but little time on my hands and limited webmaster knowledge. Also don't have much budget for hosting the site and all, how much time/money we talking about here?

Thank you Dan and TJ! I know there's not a lot of us still left here on Modified, but we greatly appreciate you both stepping up like this.

Thanks for that Ken. There aren't too many of us left, and even fewer who post regularly, you are right. I think Modified is too valuable to just let go. I think Dan and myself will be a good combo for seeing Modified into the future. On that note, Allan has put so much time and effort, and money, into Modified. Thank you Allan, it means so much!

Thank you Dan and TJ! I feel in good hands! I would've volunteered to but just saw this now. Also thank you for everything you've done Allan! You're the best! Also, it was really smart putting this post in the Footblogs section, since I don't check anywhere else on Modified anymore.

Hi Asmus. Thanks.

I think things are almost good to go for the switch over. We will likely post in here giving a time where the forums will be down. Hopefully they don't stay down long, especially with all of the action that has been taking place in the last week or so!

I wanna update the Wordpress installation, but I get this error:
"To perform the requested action, WordPress needs to access your web server. Please enter your FTP or SSH credentials to proceed. If you do not remember your credentials, you should contact your web host."

Can one of you help or do I need to get in Contact with Mr. Haggett?

I think we're still in the process of moving things over onto TJ's server. I've popped an email to both of them. Once we get everything transferred I will take a look at making some more changes to the Wordpress stuff.

I'm going to upgrade all software and start the transfer by locking the forums to new posts, probably some time this weekend.

Glad to get them back up! There may be a few hiccups here and there, but for now at least they are going strong.

I still get an error. Allan is this on your list? Thanks in advance.

Hmm...I think Allan may have fixed this since you posted? Not sure. I see a new post from you which makes me think that maybe it is better now?
