New Footbag shoes

Post by Faco » 13 Jun 2006 23:06

So we can stop hijacking the "Vasek Euros" thread, let's talk about the development of this "Quantum" prototype Footbag shoe here.

Does anyone has pictures up close?

I'm really interested in this shoe. I didn't post in the other thread (or in Mosher's blog) because I wasn't sure what my opinion was and I didn't want to hijack any threads.

I think it's good that there is a FOOTBAG SHOE. Even if it is just a rip off of the laver. If the money paid for it supports footbag rather than Addidas, I'm happy. Also, when people ask me if those are footbag shoes? It'd be SO awesome to say yes. I have many questions about this shoe. Weight? Support? Price? ect... But from what I have gathered this is a GOOD thing for the sport.

Now to address Mosher's slight delimma. Tom, this is a footbag shoe. That's a good thing. I know you wanted to be first, and you'll still be first to make a REVOLUTIONARY FOOTBAG SHOE. This seems to be a Laver with a new name. When your shoe comes out it will blow our minds. But remember, almost no sport has only ONE choice of equipment. Choice is a good thing.

I like choice.

I want to get Goonits for better support, but now I'm thinking about waiting and see what comes of this.

Planetfootbag shoes? Hm..I respect Planetfootbag and I am very thankful to them for all their support, but..their stuff is not exactly high-quality.

I am also very glad and excited that things are moving forward :D

?
So who is actually starting to produce these shoes? Are these "Quantums" really Planetfootbag shoes or made by some else?
I got a bit confused with all this, because it IS big news for the sport.

It was said that it doesn't need as much modifying as the Lavers. I guess the inside fabric is just thin mesh and there's no canvas like in Lavers? Toe-box is there already?

Most of the bags they're selling aren't high quality, but their other products are high quality.

I'm just guessing here but I bet they make most money on the low-quality bags.

planetfootbag and the guys running it are awesome!

Dude how does he find time to make that many bags? Does he stitch like full time?

Anyway I think the shoes are a great thing for footbag. Having specifically made freestyle shoes will be a great step forward for the sport. People will stop telling me I cheat because I cut my shoes up when I have these :). I can't wait to get a pair! Awesome.

I can understand why Tom would be personally dissapointed about this, but you can't have a monopoly on the idea of making shoes for footbag and I think while this might not be a good thing for Tom's personal ambitions - it's great for footbag and no disrespect to Tom but I care about that more ;).

This picture was originally posted by Ilja himself and the bags look awesome.

Anyway, looking forward to try these quantum-shoes :)

Exactly the same I would have asked, so is there anyone who knows this stuff?

Perhaps they sell Ilja bags, but they don't make them. Big difference.

Ontopic, is this shoe thing a secret or do people really don't know anything :?

I'm pretty sure that you could just order a bag from Ilja himself... I'm trying to. He hasn't gotten back to me yet

If planet Footbag were to make "Ilja Bags" they would nolonger be made by Ilja, making them Non-Ilja bags... right? I think selling them is as close as they can get. Go Planet Footbag!! :P
