outside pixie set

Postby Troyson » Sat Jul 15, 2006 6:11 am

today while i was shredding i was drilling my pixie sets and wondered if it was possible to do it from other surfaces of my foot. After playing for a little i came to the conclusion that I dont think its physically possible to do an inside pixie set, but i landed some stuff using outside pixie set.

Does anyone use this set? it seems like such a cool uptime set that i dont think i have ever seen. Today i hit outisde plo and outside pixie mirage, and i can deffinetly hit some other stuff too.

Also, has anyone ever named this set? i looked through the sets list and i dont think i saw it anywhere.

Yeah this has definately been done before. As far as I know it hasn't been named. I think the reason it's rarely used is that it's actually easier than normal pixies, and outsides are rare on their own.

Oh and inside pixie is definately possible. I haven't played around with it much but I've come pretty close, and it would basically be like a ss quantum set.

Loads of people have been doing this set (and ducking it also) for a very long time.

I've hit inside pixie set and seen some other shredders pull it off also. Yes it's a lot harder. I don't think either set has a name.

And for what it's worth I don't like the name "pumpkin".

no offense intended, troy, but my vote for the name of this set is Outside Pixie. Myself and other RFA members have been doing this for a while now, there's even a cool video of daryl genz doing magellans and PLOs with outsides. I don't remember where it is.

props for experimenting and expanding your style. I also recommend toe kick, outside kick, cloud kick, cloud delay, and behind the tongue of the shoe delay as other good starts for pixie set variations.

no offense taken everyone...i came up with the name by looking at a scented candle in my room after i couldnt think of anything else

And matt, thanks for some more tips...you were the inspiration for me to try this set. While i was shredding the other day i remembered when i saw you at spike n shred doing those cloud bump stepping sets, which for some reason inspired me to try this set.

And if anyone has that video of all this outside pixie set stuff please post it.

daryl genz has been doing it for years.

inside set pixie is not impossible. it's been done

i don't see why everything needs a name. what's wrong with outside pixie? Too many names. no point in having a special name for everything. they already have names. pixie is the name. i am not a fan of all these extra names. why do we feel we have the right to change the names of moves that have been around since the beginning? I understand having names for something brand new like phasing gyro whoopidy doo. but it's unnecessary to put names for something that has been around for a while.

how many times can one say the word "name" in one post

I hit this "Outsides_Drill.mov" about a year ago:

http://www.freedomfootbags.com/video/playerspotlights/darylgenz/

Direct Link:
http://www.freedomfootbags.com/video/playerspotlights/darylgenz/Outsides_Drill.mov

Right now my favorite move is a (outside) pixie to op (outside) pickup. It's a three add blurry whirl :P. I'm working on getting this move back to back.

The hardest moves I've hit are flurry/terrage style outside set to op outside, and outside set smog to outside :P.

There is a lot that can be done with outsides, to be sure.

Peace.

This vid is the textbook example of the techy jazz analogy that Nate made in that epic post in another thread. As cool as it is to watch people shred it up with the standard concept variety at it's highest level, this stuff is equally as exciting to watch if not more so for us vid junkies.

That toe torquing same outside move is probably my fave. Outside pixiewalk back to back is dope too. Pdx Egg to outside. Shoulder bumping pdx whirl? Stepping whirling inside? Outside legbeater>?>?? Come on Nate. You're like the Lee Retenour of Footbag! Makes me wanna steal those tricks fo sho.
