As many of you surely remember, last year's Cornell Footbag Jam was the definition of good times. Free housing at a frat house, a world class juggling show (the WJF world champ performed), excellent tourney venue (astroturf!), good parties and high level shred all made it an event to remember. And by high level shred, I mean Dave Clavens, Jorden Moir, Chris Dean, Willie Digges, Pete Bowler, Matt Cross, Ianek Regimbald, Danny Petrick, and even some players who are too cool for BAP were all there, shredding like maniacs.

So, by popular demand, the Cornell Footbag Club (Bear Feet) is proud to announce:

The Second Cornell Footbag Jam

will be going down this year! :D

Details:

WHEN: October 27th and 28th. That's the last weekend in October.

WHERE: Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. This is 6 hours from Boston, 5 hours from NYC, 6 hours from Montreal, and reasonably close to a whole bunch of other towns. If you live in the NorthEast, you have no excuse not to be here.

WHY:Because it was awesome last year, and you either:
a. Had a blast last year and want to experience that joy again.
b. Missed it, kicked yourself for it, and begged us to host it again so you could try and redeem yourself.

WHO: You! The Cornell Footbag club! And a special guest in the juggling show, whose name eludes me, but he can juggle 3 balls on his feet and 3 on his hands at the same time. I've seen video, he's awesome. You should come to watch him in the juggling show. We may be able to convince him to play some footbag too. I'll post an attendance list as the dates draw nearer.

WHERE DO I SLEEP:We can provide housing for a lot of people, but the earlier you contact us and commit, the better your chance of getting space.

WHAT: There will be a few events, but mostly this will be a laid-back, fun footbag jam. There will also be a juggling show, similar to last year's, except I hear that the footbag act will be a lot better. Some guy from Ireland is performing. There will be lots of shredding on both days. I can also pretty much guarantee a 4 square tournament and Sick Trick. We're also considering running Circle Comp and 2 square.

Get hype! :D

Sadly no. The venue we have is a super big gym with astroturf surface. It's ideal for freestyle, but we couldn't put spikes in the ground. The other problem with net is that we are sharing space with a juggling festival, so having hard footbags whizzing around at high speed is probably not a good idea. I could look into us getting space on a field to play, but it's gonna be damn cold by then in Ithaca. Hell, it's midseptember and the current temperature says its 39 degrees outside. 8O

Hey Ken,
Thank you so much for NOT holding this event the same weekend as SJFF this year! I was going to write you soon about it. So anyone who would also like to attend SJFF this year, now that there's no conflict, please contact me, I understand some of you may be short on funds to make it to two tournies in like 3 weeks, I can help you out. Just PM me. Hope you all rock the Cornell Jam then come out to SJFF. I hope you don't mind me recruiting your attendees Ken, seeing as you took them from our tourny (ouch that's controversial).

*I'm sorry to hear you can't make it Danny. I really hope your foot heals up soon so you can start playing again.

*Mosher, you better book 2 rides to get down here. We don't want a repeat of last year's last minute transportation disaster

*Jorden, the juggling event is the same weekend again this year, so it shouldn't be hard to find a ride down with maybe a local juggling club. I guarantee some university juggling club in Ontario will come.

*Flash and Cleaver are confirmed. This is looking good.

I wholeheartedly encourage you to invite people to your event. I personally would love to go to your event myself.

It's not controversial, it's just flat out incorrect. Jorden and Clavens came to CFJ last year because they couldn't afford to make it to Seattle (you guys ARE on the other coast). Flash lives 3 hours from Cornell, but went to SJFF, and we invited Pete to our tourney too late; he had already committed to SJFF.
So tell me, who exactly came to CFJ who would have otherwise gone to your tournament? No West Coast players attended our jam. If anything, a case could be made that the exact opposite of your assertion occurred; Flash and Pete would likely have come to CFJ if not for your tournament being on the same date. I really don't understand your comment.

Marc, if you're driving down, you should carpool with Ianek and co.

I'm getting excited about this... for all you who came last year, we have the same venue. That means warm indoor spot with soft astroturf heavenliness to play on.

Once again my cramped little car will make the trip. In it will more than likely sit myself as well as two other footbag players: Ben Rea and Josiah Digges (Yes. THE Josiah Digges). I won't know for sure until maybe a week before-hand but it's awesome this thread's already up.
