If I had to choose, I would rather play in modded leather Lavers than in G-units, because the sole breaks in much quicker with Lavers. But yeah, that was slightly off topic.
As for Lavers, I'm slightly divided...
I like mesh Lavers. It's just the typical white/navy and white/green standard colors are a bit of a turn off for me. If there is anyone that can provide air-brushing services for modded Lavers, then my interest toward mesh Lavers would be higher. However, in terms of comfort, leather trumps mesh because of the softer material under the leather. The only drawback to leather lavers is the "choppy mod" look after you cut out the leather on the toe and clipper. Call me spoiled, but I've grown to love the clean look that Quantums and modded mesh Lavers have sometimes.
I don't really have a clear cut opinion about the Rod Laver shoe. If only Adidas had more creative, practical and comfortable versions out in the market (in my size) would I have a more sentimental opinion on them.

ya i dont know if im gonna mod these yet, i'm getting some quantums for christmas, and i might mod those...
plus i can get off my inside stalls, clippers, and toe moves off easy, so i might just leave them.
im also spoiled, i dont like the dirty modded look that the gunits, and leather lavers have sometimes. these shoes look tight tho, as soon as i fuigre out how to post a pic ill show u guys.

Just to let you know that you don't need to do any mods to Quantums.
Other than that, I prefer the leather or the mesh. I've played in both, but the leather definately has a better feel to them then the mesh.

if you're getting quantums, maybe just walk around in the leathers until they're beat, and freestyle in the quantums.
hopefully, your quantums will last until the lavers are a bit beaten up and broken in, and then you won't mind modding them so much.
I will warn you, though. Quantums are a good bit lighter than lavers, and if you decide to try lavers after quantums, it might take you some time to get used to the extra weight.

O.k......I have been rockin my red Nylon Mesh Lavers for over a year now. I had to cut out two layers of fabric off the inside of these. But when I did I could feel the wind blow. I played in these for a good while. I seen that some players say they are not grippy enough. I was going to argue that fact until I modded my Regular Mesh Royal Blue Lavers. When I had started playing in the regular mesh lavers. I could feel a difference right away. It felt sticky on the footbag. I could move it in ways I haven't with other shoes. I felt a new sort of control with the footbag. So really like the regular mesh shoes. But they are so bling bling white. I hated the fact that I'm getting them dirty so quick. So I started wearing a Leather Pair of Lavers that I took most of the outside leather off. I have been trying to give these shoes away for a while now. I'm glad I didn't!!!!!! I wear them at the disc golf course right before we play a round. We have a good little circle going while we wait for the league to start. I hated having to change my shoes every time we started. So that how I found my new love for LEATHER LAVERS. Once they are broke in..... They are sweet! Even a little stickier then the regular Mesh lavers are.

Sorry for the off-topic, but has anyone seen these?

They're not really my style, but I thought they'd be cool for any laver freaks out there. Waylon, I'm looking at you.

I don't have leather lavers, I'm a mesh guy. But here's a pic of them:

Guydro or someone was saying how lavers are too white, but that's what I LOVE about them. I used to paint a lot and it looks like a blank white canvas, and the bag is the color that goes on the canvas. The other thing I like is I just love the way the mesh feels on my foot, and how I can feel the bag through the mesh. I've never given leather a shot though, I'm sure it's good, just a different feeling.

Here are my leather ones with most the outside leather taken off. I hooked them up with zebra stripes!

Slightly off-topic, but it's been getting harder and harder for me to find Rod Lavers or Nastases in my size on ebay. Does my account for the US ebay site work on the UK site as well?

Probably better than G-units, in terms of how quickly the sole breaks in.
