IFPA's Montreal Open 09 : footbag freestyle

when: June 12-13-14

where: Montreal, Canada

locations: Place-des-Arts, NDA center, Jeanne-Mance Park (TAMTAM)

events: Open Circle, Inter Circle, Open Routine, Open Request, Renegade.

Open Circle will be 2 phases, 3 turns per phase:
phase 1 = variety
phase 2 = density

Renegade is not a competition, it's a demo of great moves/links/runs done by everyone who has something to show.

Routine will be pre-registration only. Register by sending an email to Mathieu Gauthier ( m.gauthier2@videotron.ca ). Registration for routines ends thursday June 11th at midnight. Please send your music in advance if possible.

Routine's criteria reminder:
1. Variety: variety of components, both sideness, originality
2. Difficulty: difficult moves, density, long runs
3. Execution: good bag control, low drop count, clean dexes, good body posture
4. Structure: intro/ending, themes, transitions, respecting time limit (1:30 to 2:00 minutes)
5. Dynamics: floor and space use, different speed and intensity
6. Use of music: choreography following the structure and dynamics of the song, moves synchronized with music

elements that won't give a higher score:
1. acting (singing, dancing, joking, etc)
2. using other objects (yoyo, soccer ball, etc.)
3. long intro without the bag
4. interacting with judges
5. 2:00 minutes over 1:30 minutes

We'll have a DJ saturday at NDA center. and someone for photo/video during the weekend.

Special event: AkiFest, sunday the 14th during TAMTAM. (footbag is known as "aki" in Montreal)

( http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=73861753403 , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoG9-Hq865s)

AkiFest is a footbag festival. We'll have:
Circle kicking
Golf
challenge section
basic footbag workshop
freestyle, net and square workshops and demos
top players performance

Our goal is to promote footbag in Montreal. We want people to know that there is more than circle kicking.

So you are all welcome to help us show what is footbag.

I got crash space for people (I still live next to the NDA center and 1minute from a metro station)

I can host about 5 people and we can still be confortable (just bring sleeping bags)

less then 3 months away!

Assuming where ever I am working allows me to take off the days, I will come.

And when I do, I would participate in Routines.

For shirt interest, that would depend on the design.

For Crash Space, I wouldn't mind living with Mr. Gauthier for a few days.

I definitely want to come to this, it is 2 weeks before my birthday.

I would compete in routines, i think by then I might be able to come up with one.

Anyways, im not 100% definite.

Financial issues may be a problem

I'm fairly certain I'll be there. I would appreciate crash space, and I would be willing to do a routine. I stayed with Seb last year, and that worked well for me. I don't really need another t-shirt.

What I would also really like to do is get out to the Mt. Royal metro station and join the hounds of buskerville in the surrounding days. Who's with me?

I am 100% for this! I will do my best to make it to this event (if money becomes an issue, I will still be interested to attend this event at 80%). :)

I don't need another t-shirt. Sorry.

Montreal go go GOOOOOOO!! :P

as for busking, me Ianek Seb and Kolo busk near mont royal during those times, so if you want to do this on extra days it's not a problem, it will be quite fun.

I'll be there. If you come up with a really nice looking t shirt then i would buy it. I don't think i will do a routine but I might. I think I have a place to crash but that isn't definite yet. What is showdown testing and what is showoff testing? I can't wait guys, i'll try to get Dana to come again too.

I'll most likely show, and I'll consider doing a routine if there are medals awarded! :D I would pay for a t-shirt if it was something interesting and stylish. I need crash space, and I wouldn't mind donating a bag.

Attention

There is a first come, first serve basis on crash space at the future Laroche Household. There's plenty of room, but it's gonna be hard-wood folks. Still, hard-wood is stylish, and furnishes the apartment well. Also, you'll be forced to listen to my music while we chill there.

Confirmed:
Paul Agestonelinni (Actually, I don't remember, but if he comes he's confirmed already)

An exotic pad a walk away from the mountain. At least it will be, we're moving there in a month. There should be room for a fair amount of people, and Johhny I can place you on the guest-list too, no problem.... you're VIP.

Mathieu, if you plan on having a boardgame night during the weekend for Montreal Open, I'm in! I missed my chance regrettably at NYJ in Chicago, so I won't miss it here (hopefully). :P Hopefully you still have some crash space...

Also, I don't mind donating a prize bag for this tournament.
