This is the place to post your footbag stories; from the time you strated to your CIC days, a good place to set up jams, talk about what your bustin or anything else related to the Chicago Inner Circle.

After kicking on and off and not kicking at all for about six months over the past few years im getting back into it. Im trying to kick everyday for at least an hour and things are finally starting to feel good again! Ive mostly been skooling lots of stepping and atomics lately. So close to rubberman its annoying. Highlights from the last few sessions:

spinning osis>pdx blender repeat
flurry>symp toe whirl>whirlwind
blurry whirl bsos
blur>atom smasher>legbeater bs
fiesta and barfly bsos
blurry drifter>vortex

Aight.. here goes.

First off ive been kickin for like 7 years now. I cant believe its been so long, but then again kinda can. My game has had its ups n downs, but i'd say that the people ive met playing footbag has been the biggest plus in my game. So many cool shredders out there.. cant even begin to name everyone. Lately ive been pickin up the pieces of my 'shred' game cus until now i was not really shreddin to improve. I was gettin a lil better here and there but things were never progressing the way i had hoped. Now im out there to have fun AND get better. And now.. with all this free time i have without a job in South Beach ive been shredding almost every day. Gotta say the weather is perfect for it Smile I dont have any long tern goals for my game.. but i would like to jus keep getting better and never level off. Much thanks to the CIC + friends for everything the past 4 some odd years. Alright now on to more recent stuff...

Last few sessions have been cut short by some rain.. but heres what ive recent busted:
vortex and vertigo same string
blurry whirl, stepping whirl, and pixie whirl all same string BS
blurriest>ps whirl>p torque
gyro dlo bs same run
and my strings are gettin more 'meaty' again.. not jus the usual shuffle i normally do.

Im back out to find a job and then shred
peace out
Dan

Brian! We need to shred with you more! Glad to hear you are kicking again. If nothing else we all need to get together and talk about possible new members ( Shocked ), this years shirts for new years jam and such...

Edit
Things to do:
-think of ideas for New Years Jam shirts
-make more shirts for current members
-redesign flyers
-play at more schools
-talk about possibly holding a jam here in October in place of Windy City Open

Zeke, whats up man? Yeah we should set a jam up soon but my work schedule isn't the greatest. Mon-Thurs 5-10, Sat 4-11 and Sun 10-5. How are fridays for you guys? Also, I concur that we should make more club shirts and I trust that you can design a cool shirt for new years jam based on the ones you have made in the past. As for an October Jam and playing at schools, Im down but we can talk about this when we jam next.

Today I pretty much drilled everything and worked on string length. I had lots of good runs but still no rubberman which sucks! Some highlights:

Fog>toe drifter
High plains drifter
pdx legbeater (1st time)
blender>pdx whirl bsos

Peace out,
Brian

Tom, Reile and I kicked with a college student at the movie theatre Saturday night and he came to our jam the next day. He goes to school downtown and seems really interested in learning freestyle. The fact that he took our contact info and called us to see where we were playing on Sunday was a good sign. He can stall on his toe, instep and outside. He can clipper kick on both sides and looks like hes coming close to eclipse and a trick that looks like a combination of pendulum, wrap and osis. Needless to say I'm anxious to see if he's going to be hardcore about freestyle. I think we just need to stay in contact and try and kick with him as often as we can the next couple weeks.

Some of my favorites:
-lowest score can spike. Too Low rule still in effect.
-losers of hack-offs drop to zero points. GO VOTE!
-if you stall, you can take the bag off your foot with your hand and serve it to any one. Works best if trippy serves are on. You can only still score from the king square.
-no swearing in the squares.

-must kick it the minimum number of times as your square number. Other players may not interfere until the minimum is reached.
-score from any square
-king serves only to square with highest score

Updates
-Kamil is now a member of the club Very Happy Surprised Laughing Wink
-Suite reserved at host hotel for New Years Jam
-Getting shirts printed up
-October Jam still uncertain

4 square rules to try
-Player that eliminates the king takes king's points.
-No hack-offs. Manditory vote.
-Squares 1-3 are each assigned a unique trippy serve. King can only use the serve assigned for the square he/she is serving to or they're out. Each new king can assign new serves. Try a variety of serves, hopefully players will learn to use them and defend against them.

-Player that eliminates the king takes king's points

I tried that rule the other day and it was a blast Laughing. Several things had to be clarified though. So, in my endless need to make things needlessly complicated...

-Simply put, "...you only get the king's points if you ace the king..." thanks, Mike! No points are taken away if the king makes contact with the bag before it drops into his own square. In that case it's the king's own fault, he's out but retains his score. The same applies if the king does something else that is considered an 'out' under current game rules. There was an instance where a player who had not kicked the bag at all but did a kick fake to help get the king out. He and the player that actually kicked the bag last split the king's points.

-No self destruction. Several players were keen enough to develope the strategy of intentionally getting themselves out while in the king square (or any square to avoid being a king) to keep from losing their points to anyone else. Any player that self-destructs will lose their points. Any questionable act can be voted on. This will be a mess no matter what...

-You can only win in the king square. It is possible to get more than the required points to win the game while being in squares 1-3, but you still have to get to the final square to officially win and end the game.

Hope that all made sense. It's late and I should have been sleeping. OOH! more rules to try...

tag team hack-off - you can pick one of the 2 neutral squares to help in a hack-off

Timed 4 square - no points. Person in the king square at the end of a designated amount of time wins
timed-

I had an awesome session last night...Finally hit rubberman into a nice little string. Also hit barroque>pdx blender>ps whirl and vortex>drifter>vortex>drifter. Ive also hit 3 Jani walkers in the past few days which I am happy about cause i didnt think i would ever hit that damn move. Everything is coming along but I need to start spending more time on dlos, eggbeaters, torques, pixies and fairys and blenders. If you know of any good drills involving these moves please post them in here or in my challenge blog, thanks in advance.

Scott Davidson usually tries to hold Midwest Regionals during the summer. I have not heard anything specific for this year yet.

CIC still tries to kick at least once a year all year round. Unfortunatley, knowing the whos, wheres, and whens tend to be a last minute thing. That should change as the weather gets warmer and when I get a new cell plan.

Windy City Open was canceled last summer because tournament director Scot Hansen needed time off for his new born baby. I'll talk to him soon and find out if he wants to hold the event this year.

Some local shredders will be coming back to the Chicago are for spring break and we're planning on having a big jam some time next week. That's all I know for now, sorry I could not be more specific. I'll post more info as I get it.

If CIC got a Jam together or something, who would be willing to come out, and around what time (dates) would be good for you?

-have not played much freestyle the past few months. I try to play as much 4 square as possible though. I can't wait for it to get warmer around here.

-bought 40 sandbags from Genzu, that should last until mid summer.

-offered to pay Brian for the shirts. He said not to worry about it. Too late, I'm gonna give you some money whether you like it or not, buster! Wink

-came up with a few ideas for some shred shirts to print up, need more developement.

-still need to redo the club flyers, I'm so tired of lookin at the old ones. Kamil, would you like to try and do some flyer designs?

Spring Break Jam

Who came?
    Tom
    Tim
    Zeke
    Kamil
    Jon
    Kaushik
    Eric (FTB)
    Will (FTB)
    Shawn Boyle!
    James Risden

Spring Break Jam was pretty sweet. It was so fun. And we had a dope ass 4 square session.

I haven't kicked with so many people in a while because of winter. I can't wait till it gets warm. We are supposed to kick this week too, but it's too cold (it snowed this morning!). We did actually kick a few days ago - outside...so cold!
