If you edit an old post, it bumps it to the top of the list on the home page. I don’t really like this behaviour, and might change it at some point. For now, that’s just how it works.

UPDATE 05/26: I hacked the code and now edits DO NOT bump posts

  1. Yes, I think it would be nice if it just stayed in order of original post. Also – if you make a backdated post (as I have been doing with some of these news article posts), it would be good to have it just appear on that date too.

  2. I am still considering exactly how many posts to list on the homepage. I think the number should be quite high–say 100–but if you’re back-dating posts by _years_, then those posts will likely fall off the end pretty quickly.

  3. Huh. I just spent 10 minutes looking through the code, hacked one small thing, and, voila! I think. Posts are now ordered by their original publish date, even after you update them. Note, @boyle, that your back-dated posts are now at the bottom of the feed. As new posts happen and we hit that 100 posts limit, those will start to drop off the home page. If you can get a bunch of content in there, we can look at making a customized view for it.

  4. Great! I didn’t want to be filling up the new posts feed with old news, so that will be great, particularly while starting to populate it. Thanks Allan!
