First off, I don't have sick hacking shoes like everyone else, but I don't think it should be stereotypical of a true footbagger to have to have certain shoes. These are merely what I use because they're what I have.
Image
These are the shoes I learned with because they seemed perfect compared to all of my other shoes.
The sack on the left is the one I learned with but I always had a hard time with it until recently and now it's a favorite.
The sack on the right is one of my self-made 6 panel denim footbags.
Pros: Nice sized toe box.
Amazing for toe stalls, after hacking with these for so long the toes are indented and it just cradles a stall so well.
I like the transition between the toe box and the laces because I can play off the laces really well.
Cons: The inside of these shoes has started to break in and bulge out making inside stalls very difficult.
The inside plays ok, but because of this I now have a strong preference to play off of my toes.
Image
These are some old shoes that after getting into footbag I realized they weren't built too bad.
Pros: Plays off of the laces nicely.
The inside is really well shaped making inner stalls much easier.(one shoe is bent because it was under something)
The outside is even well shaped opening up this side of the shoe as well.
Cons: Smaller toe box than I would like, I may try to mod them because I barely wear these.
These shoes give any footbag a lot of pop making it harder to control.

Hey jtm94

The shoes you use are not really that good for footbag (definitely useable though). You should really get a pair of Rod Lavers or Quantums.
Also I would suggest you get a Mr. Sandbag from www.fourkast.com or www.freedomfootbags.com
Both of these investments will help your game alot I can assure you.

hahaha my thoughts exactly Mark. I don't understand why you even need lavers. I can footbag just fine in my skater shoes :P

Rit dyed purple. I just filled sink with hot tap water and a kettle full of boiling water and mixed dye in. Put the shoes in and weighted them down for about an hour.

I think if you boil them the whole time the color will come out better but i didn't want them to shrink.

those dyed lavers look sweet.

Here are my green and white twill lavers, the next pair that I'll use for freestyle. I have been wearing them on and off for a year or two now. They are my most comfortable shoes.

Had a plastic bin in the sink that I did it in. The sink was purple from some spilling out but it came out right away with bleach.

I'm going provide another addition to this thread.

I personally play in Nucleus shoes, (not bad, very lightweight, bad clipper.) but I told my friend, John Grain, who also uses this forum under the username "Equallymove," to buy Rod Lavers because they're better.

He bought a new and pretty unique color combo. They came in his mail today, and I told him to come right over so I could lace them for him. After I laced them, I tried them out, and just trying them on and kicking for a little bit made me feel amazing. These shoes are great, they'd be perfect with some Spenco Cross Trainer insoles. Just playing in them inspired me to hop in my Nucleus shoes and beat my record for consecutive kicks on my first try. Some people think the Lavers don't help with much, I'm going to disagree and say that they help a lot, although they aren't required to be a Footbagger.

I'm going to ditch my Nucleus, though I like them, and get some black Lavers. I'll most likely be charitable and give my Nucleus shoes to my other friend who initially started Footbagging with me.Here's a picture of his Rod Lavers in comparison to my Nucleus.

He is going to mod them this weekend, I'll most likely help.

There's my post.
