So my ankle got a lot better and I went to shred for savvy and played alright. Way out of shape though. Then I flicked it out on a sidewalk yesterday walking to class and now it feels funny again. Merm.

This week sucks. 3 exams and a paper. Well, it'll be over soon enough. Thinking positive, or trying to at least.

Hey Dave. Just wanted to thank you for coming this weekend. Playing with you in Circle was lots of fun, and your card tricks were a highlight too, but more than anything Sunday morning really meant a lot to me. I'll never forget that man. Thank you.

Definitely stay positive, Dave. It helps when things seem tough. And think how good it will feel when you are done this week!

Thank you so much for coming this weekend! It was such a a wonderful surprise to have you there. Plus, you're a great guy. I love having you around :)

Well, here I am sitting in a computer lab. I just had a test in a class and did it in 18 minutes. It was pretty much a joke, just fill ins and shit. I didn’t study for it because I had a big exam last night, but it was still alright. The exam last night was a frikken killer, and I need to do well in that class to get into my major. Speaking of my major, I did get accepted into the business school so that’s pretty sweet, I just have to finish this class and then I am home free.

I haven’t played footbag since shred for savvy, mainly because I’ve been busy as shit but also because of the ankle flip out earlier this week. I will probably play this Saturday or something if it gets stronger.

The new Playradioplay CD is really really good if you are into like, the postal service type stuff. It is called texas. I am sure you can find it online if you are an illegal pirate, I am not though.

Obama is coming here Sunday and I think I am going to go see him. It will be cool to see the person who might be president up close. I’m not too into politics but who knows, maybe it will be a good experience. I’m also doing community service on Sunday at this elementary school which is awesome, because I will get to do magic for like 3 hours and I’m sure the little kids will eat that up. Speaking of magic, I have an actual walk around gig tomorrow with the magic club. We are going to this dinner for prospective students and doing tricks. It will be a great experience.

That whole Penske routine thread is pretty interesting. I didn’t love the routine but it’s weird that people just say shit and have never done a routine ever. I mean, I see jorden’s point that you can have an opinion if you can’t do 5 adds, but don’t you think it’s a cloudy area? Like, when are you qualified to judge? The other issue is about gearing routines to the general public which I don’t know about. If I cared about the public I would be doing handstands not blurriest. I don’t know, it’s an interesting topic, I just feel like the sport can be appreciated if we stay technical. Like skateboarding didn’t make up all these “audience friendlyâ€

Everyone needs to get on Dave's case for worlds. Like, right now. He needs some encouragement to go.

Dave, you had a fractured spine last year at worlds and still took 4th place by going dropless in every round. You have spent too much time and effort playing footbag to not go. After your ankle heals you know you will be able to get into peak shape within 3 weeks. You actually have a chance to become world champion, and you would be crazy to pretend like you really don't care. Start sewing some bags, and buy that plane ticket. Maybe ask Goldberg for some help? Either way, you have to go. You don't want to look back in life and say, "Man, I might have been world champion if I had only got on a plane." Not like winning is the only thing that matters, but its definitely worth it to try.

Don't get pissed for this post. I hardly ever post on this website, and I felt it was necessary.

I agree with Alex that you should go to Worlds. I honestly think you and Jim have the best chances to dethrone Vasek, maybe even a good chance. Plus, after going dropless all 3 rounds with a broken back last year, this year should be easy for you. Although, I think you will have more chances to compete at Worlds so, I don't know if you'll necessarily "regret it for the rest of your life" if you don't go this year.

But, ya, you should try and go. Show the Europeans what's up.

it would be cool if the world champion was someoen who i actually felt like they exhisted. vasek isnt on here.... but dave is, and having the world champion be on modified would be cool. (not that he'd be any different with a title to his name.... it would just be cool is all)

go david!

Strikes me that it can be taken the opposite way. Often the most practiced footbaggers rag on others for having a higher online presence-shred-practice ratio.

As a fan, spectator and Pennsylvanian I would of course like to see you go. If it's your interest, what with school, and that whole finding the time to prepare component work sout for you.

idk, maybe it isn't that important. I just feel like you have devoted so much time and energy to be where you are. And who knows? Maybe you won't have a better chance to compete at worlds? Worlds was in the US last year for the first time since 2002, who says its coming back here any time soon? Plus, injuries happen.. yada yada. I just wouldn't want money to be the only thing preventing you from going. Thats my bottom line.

Is money even that much of an issue? I remember in 2003 lots of US players only shelled out like 3-400 bucks to get there, which isn't that much more than flying cross country in the US. On top of that, once you get to Prague, everything is way cheaper than anywhere in the US, so that lessens the impact of the plane fare. If Dave gets a normal summer job in his hometown, lives with his folks, and saves up money, I don't see any reason why money should be an issue.

Back to the original point: I agree with Alex that Dave should go. Later on in life, it gets harder to find the time to go to Worlds, and harder to find the time to practice enough to be competitive. Looking back on undergrad, I'm glad I went to Worlds twice, because once I started working, and then once I got to grad school, there just wasn't as much time to practice or to go to tournaments. The fact that Dave has a real chance at winning the damn thing is even bigger reason to go. So yeah, I think Dave should go, and I also think that money isn't a good reason not to. Ultimately though, if he decides otherwise because he has different priorities, then that's cool too.

I never really thought about it all that much, but Alex did really put it into perspective. You've worked harder at footbag than anyone I know has at anything else and I think you deserve to know where you stand when you're in full health. I really believe you have a shot. I'll practice with you everyday over the summer if I have to.

I don't know if you'll care about my opinion Dave, but I agree with everyone else in thinking that you should go to Worlds and show off some. I'm sure that the money wouldn't be an issue if you wanted to go because there's enough people that would be glad to help send you there.

It seems to be the consensus that everyone really wants you not only to go to Worlds this year, but to win. Well, you have my support too :)

If there's any chance at all you might regret not going, you should go.

In a year, if you don't go, you're not going to remember what the hell you did the week you didn't go to worlds.
